Expanded netting for next homestand
« on: August 08, 2019, 11:11:28 am »
Won't go all the way to the foul poles, just the front corner of the stands before they go straight back to the pole.  They are also replacing all existing netting with knotless netting to improve visibility.

Might still get the occasional hooking/slicing line drive into the stands past the nets, but overall this is a very good move.

Glad to see this.

Hope that young girl recovers.

Common sense prevails.

Doesn't effect me any longer, but this does stink for the kids getting to interact with players and getting autographs and baseballs from them.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Glad to see the Astros doing this. They were weirdly non-committal after the incident earlier this year, but this seems like a good plan. I bet this is the kind of thing we quickly get used to and don't even think about any more.

Agree. After awhile, the netting disappears from one’s view.

Somehow all those folks behind the plate have survived it for years.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Yep. Your eyes adjust and basically ignore the netting.

They even pay top dollar for the experience.

I do believe they raise the netting to allow access before games when no BP is going on.  Could be wrong.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"
