Mariners @ Astros, August 3, 2019
« on: August 03, 2019, 06:33:40 pm »
Astros smacking the ball pretty good...walk, double, double, groundout, and single make it 3-0. Even the outs were blistered. Except for Bregman who hit a weak ground ball, but it plated a run.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I’m a little disappointed that Alvarez didn’t go ahead and homer. What’s he holding back for?

His single nearly took Gonzales’s head off. He looked like Charlie Brown getting his clothes knocked off by a line drive.

I'm afraid he might really hurt a pitcher if he ever hits one.

The 'before' picture for that 1st inning is Servais bemoaning the fact Altuve wasn't rung up on that check swing (he definitely had a point).

The 'after' shot is the 3 next to the home team on the scoreboard.

He likes Altuve. That cuts down the complete by .001. Maybe .0001.

Maybe so. He was a pretty good ball player though. It was his broadcast career that brought out the dick side.

And while I’m piling on...I’m still pissed about seeing Nolan Ryan on all these things. As far as I’m concerned, he abdicated his Astro credentials.

Do we know how he pronounces it?  He's from Cali and was raised by gringos (mom and stepdad) so it may have been anglicized.

I’m working on it. My internet is really slow tonight.

I was thinking that was like the most open invitation ever, but then I figured Jim was only talking about the Astros.

There’s one. Alvarez hasn’t hit a home run all night.

I just got back from an awesome vacation, so I’m a little grumpy. I’m trying to stick to the game.

To be clear, it wasn’t the vacation so much as the fact that it ended and it’s back to the old salt mine on Monday.

That's what I thought too, but he was talking to JV in the dugout and showing him his left hand, so I dunno.

On the mound it was the fingers on his right hand.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Where you been?

Lurking about the place sometimes but working a lot in the last few months.  I have a tv out in the garage now, so I watch most of the games out there.  With no quick access to a pc it is a bit hard to contribute to the discussions, but I still get lot of laughs from reading the posts after the games.

Ironically, it was way better than I expected in Placencia, Belize. They just got a paved road last year, but the internet works pretty good.

On post game radio interview they asked Sanchez about his finger. He said no blister and everything is fine. He says he gets them so much that he is constantly checking them to make sure they are ok.

What a night! Great debut for he and Biagini and a great job by Harris, Devo and the bats. All on Hall of Fame night!

I can only guess what this refers to but I was only watching the top half of each inning and still pretend to pay attention to the dumb games they are playing and had the sound off completely.

So let s get this straight, the last two times you were out with this chick, the Astros tossed a no-hitter?

Secondly...a fucking baby shower?  For someone else’s kid?

So let s get this straight, the last two times you were out with this chick, the Astros tossed a no-hitter?

Secondly...a fucking baby shower?  For someone else’s kid?

You're grumpy.  Does it matter?

Happy wife, happy life or some shit like that. Believe me, I'm not happy to be here watching a no-no, on my phone, with no sound, and nearly zero english being spoken around me. But I don't want her to leave me, she can make some pretty fucking mean salsa

Biagini: I guess they can trade me now, they got what they wanted out of me. I knew it was a no hitter early, but forgot. I didn’t remember again until after I’d come out of the game.

To be honest, I forgot about the no-hitter when Sanchez left.  Wow.

How pissed are the Blue Jays business management team right now?  Probably wondering where they get their own Strom.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

Mariners have been no hit twice in the last three weeks.

Every team in baseball wishes they had a pitching coach like Strom along with an analytics department like the Astros.  The combination is lethal.

Hope we play them more this season! This is not a very good Mariners team.

I know he doesn’t have a ton to work with, but I’m shocked Servais still has a job.

The Astros play them seven more times, counting tomorrow’s game.

I hope the Astros have someone learning from Strom to take over when he leaves. They've got to. If I can think of it, they've been doing it for years.
