Pirates go scoreless in the 1st
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Kalas seems to be having trouble keeping track of things like outs and balls and strikes.

Picking up pbp mid inning....

Following a flyout, an infield hit (backhand attempt off Yuli's glove), and a 4 pitch walk Cole has runners on 1st/2nd.

Frazier (full count) flies out to Brantley in front of the scoreboard in left
Newman (full count) Ks swinging

2-0 Astros

Whew.

That should do it for Cole. 2 walks,  3Ks, 7 hits.

Couldn't locate and couldn't induce swings/misses.

Pen will need to nurse this one home.

Sorry.   Pbp interrupted by a phone call.   More runs including one on an Alvarez blazing double in the gap in right.

Headed to the 9th, Astros up 5-1.

Looked like a classic astroturf double.

It's pretty impressive when the first bounce is in the dirt and the second bounce is between the outfielders.

What do people think on Bregman's arm vs. Correa? That was a nice play overall on the throw White had to stretch out for, but my mind is telling me that Correa rockets that in there.

Bregman has a strong arm, certainly strong enough to play SS.  Correa has a laser beam.

Correa is top 5, maybe #1, for SS arms.

Encouraging that 2 of Bregman's hits were well struck.

Also nice that Springer got a hit.  Good to see the energy he brings.

The list of arms stronger than Correa's may not exist.
The list exists ... it is just empty.

With Altuve, Alvarez and Springer fortifying the lineup, Bregman should be seeing better pitches to hit.

He is seeing lots of good pitches. His swing is fucked up.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

It seems that Bregman is popping up a lot. He has a .932 OPS and is on track for 40+ home runs and 100+ rbis with a poor swing. Can't wait to see what happens when he gets his good swing back.

He won’t be hitting .260.
