Moustakas, 2B
Grandal, C
Thames, 1B
Shaw, 3B
Arcia, SS

Woodruff, P

ASTROS:

Reddick, RF
Bregman, SS
Brantley, LF
Gurriel, 3B
Alvarez, DH
Chirinos, C
Kemp, 2B
White, 1B
Marisnick, CF

Verlander, P
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Well, that didn't take long.  The Peen hammers a home run on the first pitch he sees.

There will be no repeat performance on the 12 year anniversary of Verlander’s no hitter against the Brewers.

Get ahead fastball, belt high, right down the center of the plate.  Braun crushed it.

B4:

Bregman taps back to the mound
Brantley grounds out 4-3 behind 2B
Gurriel singles to RCF
Alvarez...3-0...3-1 on the corner...walks, Gurriel to 2B
Chirinos singles to LF, Gurriel scores, Alvarez to 2B
Kemp doubles to LF off the wall, Alvarez scores, Chirinos scores...Kemp pimped that one big time, or he'd be on 3B
White flies out F8

But the Astros string a little something together...lead 3-2

Hey, off-topic question: we're going to Minnesota in July, and we're lining up tickets for a Twins game. Anybody have seating advice. Unfortunately, we're looking at "special event" pricing for the freaking Mets.

End of 2 periods the Blues lead the Bruins 2-0 . Shots on goal favor Boston 23 to 10. The Blues goalie has been standing on his head the whole game.

Good news is, you're a catcher so even if you can't hit, maybe you can make it to the big leagues anyway.

I'm really curious as to why he still has a job.

It was up too.  Thames had no business hitting that pitch.

It was a good bit of hitting; lefty aiming for the short porch out there.

Straw's arm was bending from contact with the bag, and the tag *still* hadn't made contact. I don't see how they could overturn the safe call.

Straw, pinch hitting for Kemp...works the count full...walks

Fisher pinch running for White
Marisnick grounds into 6U-3 double play

That sucked

It appears the de facto replay standard has changed from "irrefutable evidence to overturn the call on the field" to "the video seems to suggest". I see it again and again. Unless the video ump is getting different video than the fans.

I thought James might be asked to pitch two since he only threw 13 pitches. I do hope his arm isn’t hurting.

I thought James might be asked to pitch two. I do hope his arm isn’t hurting
I was wondering about that when he left the mound.

Nice job by Straw. He’s going to have to learn not to go to his knees all the time, but that was impressive.

Walk to Straw, walk to White...Straw picked off, GIDP.  That was the best chance right there.

He was blistering hot last June and again late in the season.

I'd settle for warm to the touch now.  Too many pop ups.  Too few barreled balls for base hits.

This slider was 85 mph and had some wicked movement.  Anyone notice if his other sliders had similar velocity/more bite?

It took a while for him to recover and get to 1st after the HBP on 9 June by Phillips in the 8th inning - same inning as Alvarez's HR. (2:26:26)

He hasn't been right most of the season,  well before that hbp.

Here he is after the 2 homer game vs FTC lamenting his trouble with popping up 4 seam fastballs:

https://www.mlb.com/video/bregman-on-2-homer-game-vs-cubs

His mastery of the zone is such that he can put pressure on pitchers to feed him fastballs in the zone.  He just hasn't punished them consistently- yet.

Been going on all year. Not selective at all. Except for homers, not punishing the ball. He jams himself quite frequently as he did last night in the 13th with the winning run at second.

On the ESPN feed from the game they showed him in batting practice prior to the game.  He was putting a baseball in front of his left foot.  It looks like he thinks he's been striding too far in his swing.  The ball was put just far enough out to keep his step short.

I should have added that I suspect Bregman will work it out.

Funny to see the low tech solution.
