We've all spent lots of bandwidth on Tyler White, but the black hole in the lineup is Gurriel, and this needs to be addressed. JUstice mentioned getting Encarnacion. Don't know if he's the answer, but Gurriel's lack of production (Astros are at the bottom of MLB in first base productivity) needs to be addressed.

Fix the White problem first. Then we can worry about Yuli.

Personally, I think Yuli and Bregman are pressing too much with the big guns on the IL.  I think they come back and Yuli and Bregs start playing their game again.

I was flat out shocked to see Jonah Keri on The Athletic tab Bregman as his first half MVP.

^This....though I have to admit Yuli has not been the same player as last season even before all of the injuries BudGirl referenced.

Having said that, Yuli is not a power hitting first baseman. That isn’t his game. The production needs to be better but if you are expecting him to hit homers like a “typical first baseman” you are going to be disappointed.

I'm expecting him to punish mistakes for singles and doubles. But it's just not happening with any regularity this year.

Line drive base hits. That's all we need from Yuli.

Too many pop ups this season (from Bregman too).

I've thought for awhile now that once Alvarez came up, he'd settle in at first and Yuli would become another utility guy.

The club stopped playing him at 1b in RR, so they seem to disagree.

Beer, OTOH, is playing a lot of 1b.

Nope. Not even close.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Hinch had been giving Brantley and Springer at-bats at DH to keep them fresh, so I imagine he will DH and rotate into the outfield as needed.
