After start # 2 McTaggart had the note that Martin had thrown fastball at a 55% rate. League average 35%.

I suspect that speaks more to his inability to use his other pitches (or lack of confidence) rather than to the strength of his fastball.

That is a telling stat. Few, very few, are going to be successful at that rate.

That is more accurate, but I wonder if some of that is a bit of fear. To me, he just has the look of someone wary of keeping pitches in the zone.

He is behind the hitters and has more confidence in it when he must throw a strike. Big contrast between his first game and the rest.

The real question is if you send him down, who comes up and who takes his starts. James or Rodgers are potential options to start. As far the bullpen spot, Reymin Guduan again? Was going to say Deetz but his numbers are terrible, other than K's. Seems like everyone in Round Rock is pitching like shit

Astros promotional chatter overshadowed the start of the top of the 9th last night, as Almora came to the plate with one out. He was apparently hoping for another fat FB from Osuna.

But his surprise - and smile - was caught by the Cubs announcers who laughed w/ Almora as he chased a slider on the 1st pitch.
