Curious that the Braves are on his no trade list. He grew up in North Carolina. They are geographically closest to home and you would think he grew up watching them.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Are you listening? His no trade list does not mean he’ll veto it. He is setting up a payday for his waiver. I agree keeping some contenders off is strange.
He was limited to 8 I believe so some contenders would have to be left off.
The wording of that tweet is confusing. Most commenters, who are just a different flavor of idiot then those of us here, are interpreting this as the list of teams he'd be willing to go to, but they remain 'no trade' status so that he has more power to control where he goes. Just like Verlander did. As Jim said, it'll cost you. Interesting that Minnesota and Cleveland are not on this list. Don't know if that means 'no way'.
Jim, I know how no trade lists work and that he can change his mind any time. I just thought the Braves being on there was curious. I realize now why they are on there. Thanks for your input though.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
https://theathletic.com/977591/2019/05/15/bowden-breaking-down-madison-bumgarners-trade-value-and-best-potential-fits/Rundown of the contenders. I'm sure the chatter and the asking price will only increase as the season unfolds.
Stroman very much intrigues me.
Stroman has an ERA over 7 in his last 3 starts.
I'd like to see what the Astros and Strom do do with Stroman
Geez, when you put it that way, it really seems inevitable.
I would take Stroman in a heartbeat but my first choice would be Bumgarner.
I'd probably pass on Stroman, unless Toronto gives him to us for a combination of Fisher, Reed and White. Hell, give them all three.
I wonder what it would take to get Stroman, more that Madbum of course but you'd get him for this season and next. Would Fisher and Bukauskas be enough, too much? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I would love to know what the plan is to complete this roster.
Me too Jim.Let me ask this question. Assuming Bumgarner throws good up to the deadline and he looks like the guy you want, SF from what I hear on radio wants to get younger and wants outfielders badly. Would you do Tucker for Bumgarner straight up even though Bumgarner is a rental?I think I would....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And even with that his ERA for the season is 3.12 because his ERA of 1.43 in the first 6 starts. I'd like to see what the Astros and Strom do do with Stroman
Bumgarner is not the same pitcher since his injury.
In 2017 about this time a solid majority of the board agreed Verlander was too old, too expensive, and too much over the hiss to be an acquisition target. That same majority agreed Luhnow should not try to trade for him because he was not worth the prospects it would cost. Look what JV did after coming to Houston. I would not mind seeing if the Astros could revive Madbum, but he would have to give an indication he will stay. Tucker or whoever is too much for a rental who may be a bit of a project.
Bumgarner's last three starts (LAD, @COL, CIN): 18.0 IP,20 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 23 K, 3 BB.
and your conclusion is?
I cant remember a single person on this board against a JV trade- quite the contrary in fact. I remember lots of folks pissed that Lunhow didn't pull it of at the non-waiver deadline. Also, JV didn't fall off a 4 wheeler and suffer a type II AC sprain.
