Royals at Astros- May 8, 2019
« on: May 08, 2019, 07:49:46 pm »
Leadoff Springer dinger.

Astros got 2 other runners on via BB in the 1st but nada.

Peacock pitching from full windup tonight. Only baserunner reached via E5 throw that pulled Yuli off the bag (upheld on replay ir whatever the phrasing is; he almost got reached back to the bag successfully).

1-0 thru 2.

Bottom 3

Springer walks
Altuve moves him to 3rd with a single
Bregman drives him in with a sac fly
Brantley golfs one over the bullpen in right center for a 2 run homer to make it 4-0
Correa homers to dead center, 5-0 (right over the 4 in the 409 painted on the fence)
Reddick singles to right
Yuli doubles to the corner in left,  Josh to 3rd

Yost to the bullpen . . .

Newberry (RHP) in

Díaz drives Josh home with a shallow sac fly

My keys to the game:

1. Hit dingers
2. Do not allow dingers

That’s 20 straight plate appearances for Brantley without a swing and miss. I think he’s locked in.

Top 5

Peacock pitches into trouble with 2 1-out singles and a hit batsman,  but gets 2 Ks to remain unscathed.

Astros load the bases,  get 2 runs home on a grounder and a sac fly.

9-0.

And he punches out swinging next time up. Nice work.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Why is Correa out?
Late innings of a blowout would be my guess

Very large strike zone tonight.

Funny that the pitch that set Machete and Yost off was more clearly a strike than a half dozen other pitches tonight.

He did look like he might be regaining some form.  Throwing the 3-2 slider for a strike on that long AB was pretty impressive, given his control so far this season.

Peacock and James combined for 17 Ks.

Brad had 12.  Hell of an outing from him.
