Audio on Astros TV games
« on: April 26, 2019, 02:16:45 pm »
lately the engineers on the Astros telecast are turning up the crowd noise as the game goes into middle/late innings to the point, I can't hear Kalas/Blum. Or at least I can't make out what they are saying w/o turning up the volume which begets more crowd noise. I know I am old and crotchety but I am very annoyed by it. Is it just me?

I am considering muting tv and syncing up with Ford/Sparks.

I've been listening to a lot of Ford and Sparks this year. I prefer them over Kalas and Blum. Like I prefer chocolate cream pie over lemon and I like lemon pie..
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

Bill Brown tweeted about this the other day... He eventually decided he fixed it via his TV's settings:

Wonder what he did. I often have the same issue.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I was just having this issue last night and thinking that I had to reset my Dolby surround settings to fix it last year

For surround sound it may depend on where the crowd noise is being channeled and what setting the TV or receiver is set on(music,  sports,  Cinema,  etc).

I don't have this problem at all on TV where I usually watch, which is not tricked out with surround et al. But I was watching the other night in a different room where we watch movies, etc, and the effect was much more noticeable. I suspect you're right: check for cinema settings.
