Twinkies @ Astros, April 24
« on: April 24, 2019, 07:14:08 pm »
Man, where's the crowd tonight? Has the weather already gotten bad there? It rained like a big dog here in Austin today.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Watching the Rockets?  I'm dvr'ing it for after the Stros.  Maybe people won't post the score in here?

Clean 1st inning for JV!  And the crowd goes wild.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

For the first time in a while, the Astros get out of the 1st inning without giving up any runs.

I'm confused...I tune in, the Astros are batting in the first inning, and they're not down by 3 or 4 runs...what gives?
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

He got away with one in the first inning, too. It was hit a mile but foul.

Twins go down 1-2-3 in the top of the 2nd. Still 0-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd.

Diaz with a single, but nothing comes of it.

Astros 1, Twins 0 after 2.

Another nice AB from Springer.

Down 0-2 in the count, gets to 2-2 and gets a solid single into LF.

Springer was being a total goofball and still Brantley didn’t crack. Pretty impressive.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

That was not a well located 3-1 fastball.

Josh is really taking to the opposite field approach.

Great freaking game by JV.

I wonder why the Twins think that their best hitter needs to play only once every five or six games. Keep him fresh for the pennant drive, I guess, who knows.

Good series win.

Astros and Twins came into the series tied for AL lead in batting average.

Love Josh using the whole field.   I'm sure Berkman loved that Crawford box shot.

And this Verlander character may turn out to be a decent acquisition.

I don't care where I have to play him, I put him somewhere every damn day. Definitely an odd strategy

Willians can only play places - other than 3B - where they have players already.

I thought of Berkman too on that swing. ‘Twould be great if Reddick makes that shot a habit.

That was a masterful performance. 8 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 98 pitches.
