Opening Day 2019 Astros at Rays, March 28
« on: March 28, 2019, 10:36:50 am »
Rogers Hornsby once said: “People ask me what I do in winter when there is no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”

The wait is over.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I have not heard. May be a game time decision?

All I can say is, if he's not 100% he shouldn't play.

Correa says it still bothered him in BP, but he thinks he will play in this series at some point.

Bench is pretty shallow in the infield with Correa out

Anyone watching the Nats game?  Scherzer almost struck out the side on 9 pitches.  8 straight and then Cano flied out to right center.

Today is the first time in baseball history that both league's cy young award winners are facing off on opening day against former cy young award winners who also finished second in the previous years' cy young vote.

I am not wearing a fedora, Orange or otherwise. Just a standard blue cap.

I'm up in the nosebleeds. Which at the Trop now is the 200 level.

Hey Blake, I think you mistakenly received Justin’s Cy Young Award. Could you drop it off while we’re in town?

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Favorite moment was in thre 7th. 2 on 2 out. AJ comes to the mound, asks Verlander a question,  JV says "no" and AJ promptly heads back to the dugout.   Not even sure he stopped on the mound.   Verlander gets the third out and gives a little 'hell yeah' arm pump.

Top of 3rd
Snell pitching

Chirinos walks
Diaz FO down the RF line, Meadows makes a nice sliding grab.
Marisnick takes four balls to move Chirinos to 2nd
Springer homers!!!!! Three run Springer Dinger!!!
Altuve GO to short.
Bregman FO to RF

Middle of 3
Astros 3   Rays 1

I'm thinking Snell regretted not going after Marisnick. Jake showed good patience and Snell thought he'd chase the slider. I'm sure he was thinking about that when he served up Springer's dinger.
