Avenida Cantina
« on: October 17, 2018, 11:32:32 am »
So I found the bar/restaurant in NY to watch Astros games -- the Avenida Cantina on Avenue B.

The place has an Astros flag outside and Shiner inside.

And there had to be at least 50 Astros fans watching the game last night -- maybe not a lot for Houston, but for New York, it was like a sold out show at the Garden.  There obviously weren't a lot of highlights, but the lot of us singing deep in the heart of Texas during the seventh inning stretch was pretty good.

Because I keep kosher, I was drinking and not eating.  But I'm told that its the worst Tex Mex food in NY.

Pros -- lots of Astros fans and a decent tequila selection
Cons -- the food sucks and its not easy to get to by public transportation.
Boom!

I watched 3 or 4 games there last year!
The queso and atmosphere are great.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

That is a significant achievement.

That is a significant achievement.

There's only one edible place in the city, and it's still highly mediocre (two locations - the one by us just had a kitchen fire so we'll see if it reopens).
