I'm nervous.  Working on cars (replacing the oil pan on a 2010 Audi A3 Sportback), drinking some Fiddlehead (http://www.fiddleheadbrewing.com/) and listening to the Dodgers/Brewers game as a primer.  Man, the Dodgers radio team is horrible.  Such a tremendous drop off from Scully.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

Alright...frito pie downed...one bottle of pinot...empty...rum on standby.

Let's do this!

On the basis I might not remember tomorrow, I had a tostada and enchilada dinner (meatless, of course) at La Mexicana, with two large frozen margaritas.  I’m wearing my Bagwell orange silhouette  t-shirt and I’m currently drinking Founder’s “All Day” IPA.

Just in case this works out...

T1:

Springer...full count...walks
Altuve grounds into FC, Springer out 6-4 at 2B
Bregman pops to shallow RF...in no man's land...it drops off of Betts's glove...Altuve has to hustle to 2B as the throw pulls Bogaerts off the bag...Red Sox challenging play at 2B...replay is very close...overturned...score it a FC for Bregman, Altuve out 9-6 at 2B
Gurriel strikes out swinging

No score

Bases loaded. Regardless of the outcome, Correa’s ab started this. At the very least this shortens Sale’s night.

T2:

White strikes out looking
Marwin with a soft liner to 2B on the first pitch
Correa...full count...walks
Maldonado hit by pitch on his right hand, Correa to 2B
Reddick walks, Correa to 3B, Maldonado to 2B
Springer...takes strike one...takes strike two...1-2...2-2...3-2...singles to LF, Correa scores, Maldonado scores, Reddick to 3B
Altuve grounds into FC, Springer out 6-4 at 2B

2-0 Astros

A kind interpretation would be that an average pitcher, such as darling, spent his entire career praying for everything would be ruled an error.

Stay on the bag,  Alex.

Worst rule in baseball though. The league needs to amend the rules so a belly momentarily not contacting the bag when the entire body is over it isn’t an out. It’s a bad application of the replay rule.

I get your frustration, but he’s advancing at his own risk and it’s his job to reach and stay on the bag.  He didn’t.

Now, the Ump missed the call and he was out for reasons not seen by the Ump at the time, but he was still out.

This is exactly what’s wrong with the NFL replay system on “catches”. It ignores the intent of the action and the motion of the game.

Oh well, I’ll take 2-0 for now.

The only explanation I can come with on that is the 3b ump didn’t see it hit the ground. Seriously fucked up.

The umpire didn't,  as he turned and based his call on where it landed, as opposed to calling it as it flew over the bag.

I don't understand what's being argued here. He lined a ball foul that landed ten inches foul well beyond third base. I have no idea what people are talking about with this it hit in front of the plate. There was a shot from down the third base line that showed what happened as clearly as you can see it.

He hasn't retired George yet, and George is due up second in the next AB. Might depend on if it's still a two-run deficit or not.

Only one he's thrown for a strike this inning was the 3-0 take by Nunez.

Pearce...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...singles to LF
Holt...0-2...strikes out looking
Nunez...3-0...3-1...walks, Pearce to 2B
Bradley 3-0...walks...Pearce to 3B, Nunez to 2B
Moreland, pinch hitting for Leon...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...walks...Pearce scores, Nunez to 3B, Bradley to 2B
Vasquez pinch runs for Moreland
Betts grounds into FC on the first pitch...Nunez out 5-2 at the plate, Bradley to 3B, Vasquez to 2B
Wild pitch, Bradley scores, Vazquez to 3B, Betts to 2B...
Benintendi...full count...strikes out looking

But the Sox tie the game on...wait for it...a seeing eye ground ball single  2-2

Ump very generous there

The pitch was on the black and those weens need to swing the bat with 2 strikes rather than pray for a generous call.

That’s what was so frustrating. He carved up Holt with the junk and then stubbornly abandoned it after that ab. They were all sitting fastball and it was easy to lay off.

So what happens when you’re out of visits.  The pitcher has to go?

Apparently warnings and ejections for the visiting party.

T6:

Bregman...0-2...1-2...hit by pitch
Gurriel chops to 3B...Nunez drops the Sunday hop...E5...Bregman to 2B
White...wow, takes a curveball right down the center of the plate for ball two as Vazquez is crossed up...2-1 on the same pitch...3-1...pops to 2B...IFF rule in effect as Holt puts it away
Marwin...3-0...takes a cookie to make it 3-1...3-2...strikes out swinging at a pitch in the dirt
Correa...3-1...singles to CF...Bregman scores, Gurriel to 3B

Kelly out, Barnes in

Maldonado taps back to the mound on the first pitch

3-2 Astros

He’s had some good ab’s this postseason. The walk earlier was a big ab. He had some walks in Cleveland and some solid contact prior to the HR that we’re all good signs.

6, 7, 8 coming up.

I'd say yes.

I agree.  Let him start, but have relief ready.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

So glad Hinch is in charge.

Hinch sat on his hands to great success in 2017, while his opposite numbers embarrassed themselves.

Jose may want to wait for a strike.  2 double play balls is enough in one game.
