The National League

NL Central: Brewers win, Cubs lose. Tied for 1st heading into Sunday.

NL West: Dodgers win, Rockies lose. Tied for 1st heading into Sunday.

Sunday should be fun. I’m rooting for the same outcome for all four teams tomorrow.

I don't hate the Rockies but the other three teams can go to hell.

Same.

Dodgers up 9-0 in the 3rd, Rockies up 4-0 in the 4th. On a collision course for a 163rd game.

Brewers still up 2-0 in the 3rd, Cubs still down 2-0 in the 3rd.

Unusual amount of rowdy Brewer fans at Wrigley today. Making a lot of noise as they take a 2-1 lead in the eighth.

Someone here said that one by product of the Hader trade turned into the Bregman draft pick.

Nope.  The Bregman pick was given because of the failed signing of Brady Aiken.

Bregman was compensation for not signing Aiken.

The Norris trade to Baltimore got us Hader, LJ Hoes, and a draft pick that became Derek Fisher.

Domingo Santana with a critical PH double in the 8th when the Brew Crew scored those 2 runs. Overall a miserable season for him but did bat .381/.435/.857 in September.

The speedy Cain, already on third, would have had a much greater chance to score tagging on that fly out to LF  than Braun had of stealing second. But he couldn't because Braun made the second out.

Add Kiké Hernandez to the list of exes in the playoffs. Kinda bloomed at the plate this year. After Zobrist and Doran, one of the better 6th round picks of the Astros at 7.0 WAR and still relatively young at 27.

A Bobby Heck pick. Lots of busts in the early rounds of that 2009 draft but still yielded Keuchel, JD Martinez and Hernandez.

While it didn't matter at the time, in years to come, no one will ever be able to call the Astros WS "cheap" the same way that they try to devalue the Rockets' championships (because no Jordan).  The Astros went through the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers for a post-season trifuckyou.  I'm sure in 100 years time that will still register as balls-out legit.

No one with any credibility or a thimble full of sense suggests the Rockets' championships are somehow "cheap", even ignoring the fact that Jordan was in the league for the second one.

Regardless of how stupid it is, it's been said.  It's also stupid because the Rockets were the one team that had shown it could handle Jordan's Bulls; it was the Sonics they couldn't beat.

Yes, any Championship stands on its own, but beating arguably the three most storied franchises in the sport for your first is the stuff o' legend, and unimpeachable.

If they just could have worked the Co-ards into the mix somehow.

High drama in that AB. FTC.

The stakes for that game were amazing.  You win, you get a couple days off and home-field advantage through the NLCS.  You lose, you are in another one-game playoff and on the  don't have home-field advantage at any point thereafter.

I'm rooting for the Rockies all the way. FTC, FTD, FTB, and FBS! I do think the Brewers have done a fantastic job with their acquisitions. They have a good team outside of the dick-faced motherfucker and the Selig shit-stain.

RF overruns a routine fly from Bryant putting runners on 1st/2nd with one out.

Then the Cubs do something called "grounding into an inning ending double play".  Weird.

2-2 . . . Foul,  then taps into a FC, 5U (tags the lead runner).

Still 2 on, now 2 out.

At least get set and assess if there's a throw to be made.

This was not great baseball. This was two teams that struggle against good pitching... struggling against good pitching.

Interesting. I wondered how The Genius would be treated after this underperforming team cratered at the end. Losing TWO crucial games in the Friendly Confines to achieve elimination cannot sit well with upper management. They are losers for sure but certainly are not lovable.

Lost 3 out of their last 4 at home to end their season, scoring a grand total of 3 runs in the losses.  After having been in first place since July 13th.

Homer said it’s impious to exult over the slain. Unless it’s the Cubs or the Rangers. Fuck em.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Heard an interesting rumor out of Chicago. I heard to not be surprised if Joe Maddon steps down and Joe Girardi becomes the FTC skipper.

Went to bed at bottom 8, watched the rest this morning.  Glorious. FTC.

Go A's too.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"
