If this was true, he would be on the DL. O dont know how reliable this guy or his "source" is but if his thumb was so bad he cant play then I have trouble seeing them keeping him on the roster. Also he wouldn't have been about to pinch hit the other day if his thumb was so bad

Some of Springer’s swings the last couple of games he played definitely looked uncomfortable. Because of that, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true. One the other hand, if he is hurt this badly why not go ahead and DL him rather than playing a man short on the bench in the middle of a tight race???? So how true is this article??

I’ve spent the last 24 hours wondering how they are going to get McCann on the active roster when he is ready. For a team that overall is struggling offensively, I think it would be really difficult to send either Kemp or White back down. Unfortunately, Springer to the DL may be the way it happens.

And the “retroactive” clause means he will be back in less than 10 days.

I may be wrong but I believe the retroactive thing only goes back 3 days.

It's just a week until September call ups.

McCann can wait.

*If* Springer needed time on DL and *if* Jake is ready he'd be the guy activated.

That is if I were the GM.  Which I'm not.

Springer not in lineup tonight.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I wonder if the Gattis/Springer appearance in the on deck circle the other night would have resulted in Springe running for Gattis had Evan hit grounded into the team record breaking dp.

I thought Springer's current problem was a leg issue? Which would preclude him pinch-running.

No. His quad is better. His thumb not so much.

How do you know this? Hinch’s Pre-game conversation was all about his leg. He said earlier the thumb will be sore for the rest of the season.

At this point, the most I'm willing to read into a declaration of "his thumb is sore" is that it's still attached. Beyond that, who knows?

Well - of course I do not *know* but everything I had seen was a concern about his thumb. I missed Hinch’s comment but even the in-game references were thumb. I guess we file this under #fakenews

I do not know either and did not see the game, but Hinch spoke at length about what he was not in the lineup. It was all about his leg and mobility.

While I missed the pregame chat from Julia on the TV side, late in the game they made some reference to her conversion with AJ regarding George. The impression I got from what they were saying is that George could play any day now. Possibly in the lineup by Sunday????? Did I hear it right????

The article that started this thread must be poor journalism.

George is not in today's lineup.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it

Springer pinch hit for the final out.  Takes away any retroactive DL.
Always ready to go to a game.

On Sunday pre-game Luhnow indicated that Springer could easily play the weekend but they wanted to make sure his leg was 100% for the A's series.

His thumb was buried inside Beltran's glove.

LAST YEAR.
