It would be a great story for the Astros to make the playoffs at all, but let’s face it: the A’s are gonna run away with the division.
I get it! A two-run lead seems impossible to overcome right now. And runs are hard to come by.
I heard a story about a little league coach approaching a player that had just blown a play.
"You're better than that!"
The player was ready to try again. With the Astros, some key player want to play, but can't....
Yet!The season is not over, neither is Houston's! No argument that it has been awful w/o Altuve and Correa (tho he's playing, he's not back yet). I do not expect the team BA (since the AS break) to continue be
at the bottom of the AL through the rest of the season.
In the
last 30 days only five have been hitting above .250, and two of them are on the DL (Marisnick & Altuve). And Bregman is the team leader w/ 13 RBI, followed by White (12) and Gonzalez (10). No one else has double digits.
It looked way too easy with the hot start. At one point weren't they averaging 6-7 runs per game. Lately, with big bats out, runs have been hard to come by and pitching has kept them in the race.
The Astros are better than they have been lately. They are hurting, but as hot as the A's have been, they have only been able to get into a 1st play tie one day! And they have seven games w/ the Mariners (4 home; 3 away) remaining and three in Houston. The Yankees and the hot Rangers follow the Mariners in the current A's homestand.
During this time, hopefully Altuve's bat and energy will return along w/ some others. Let's hang on and see what happens. It could be a really exciting finish!
I am counting on it! It could be better than last year, w/ so many stars missing in action -
until September!
