Baseball is dead in Oakland if the stadium isn’t full for this game.

Maybe the upper deck in the outfield might be empty, but you know what I’m saying.

Pitcher won that, but Springer looked good in that AB.

Aggressive swings,  spoiled a lot of pitches.

Spoiled a lot of balls though. He tapped back to the mound on ball 8. Jackson threw one strike, and that was the first pitch cookie that he knows the Astros won’t swing at.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

The Astros simply will not swing at the first pitch. No matter what. It’s maddening.

The chubby Tyler White is a better hitter than the skinny version.

Maldonado finds another way to be the front end of the double play. He’s a twin killing machine.

Nice job by Morton to not let that inning get away from him.

His telling Marquez to stfu and get back to the game was the best thing I have seen in a long time.

If anyone runs in to a replay I’d greatly appreciate it. Was in an intense pillow fight with the 11yo.

Pressly threw the best possible curve you can throw with two strikes. It broke about four feet and grazed the lowed limit of the zone. It was a strike 100 times out of 100. Apparently this was time 101.

Dugout starts chirping. Rather than ignore it, HPU decides to engage. Maldonado immediately stands up and gets in front of Marquez and proceeds to say, I imagine, Look, you missed that call badly but I didn't say shit about it and my pitcher didn't say shit about it and you do not have to hear the dugout if you don't want to. You own this, but it's you that's making this an issue, so let's get back to the game.

And that was that. Maldonado talked to him for a good ten seconds and Marquez didn't seem to be saying much if anything.

Unless NY had a replay that the TV broadcast didn't, that is an absolutely horseshit overturn.

There was not a single angle that clearly showed he beat the tag.

Fuck replay. If it isn't consistent, it's no better than Alfonzo Marquez making the call to begin with.

Sure you can. If the calls are made accurately, you can even get away with it.

Anyway, the 9th will be Osuna’s presently.

There's a clear inverse relationship between the importance of a job (getting a hit, getting a batter out, making a play) and their chances of getting it done.

We were thinking 2017 could be the start of a dynasty, or more realistically, (given the top heavy American League) a run of sustained excellence like the Bagwell/Biggio Astros.
Right now it looks like an outlier. Just a thing that happened, like the 1988 Dodgers or the 2013 Red Sox...

Leading the league in blown saves. Bullpen has been a problem all season.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Olsen’s HR doesn’t piss me off as much as that walk to Pinder. Rondon too worried about his role to just throw strikes and get outs. Frustrating night of baseball.

I guess Osuna gets a tryout next

And I guess I don’t need to remind anyone that Reddick as in the shift, otherwise that’s a single and runners on the corner.

Most of America is suggesting this is karma for signing Osuna in the first place.

They are playing like shit right now but come on. The 88 dojers and 13 sox were bookended by losing seasons. Let's not pretend this isn't still a good team. Last year was not a one hit wonder. It's hard to repeat and this thing isn't over yet. Lots of baseball to go.

This is too harsh. Springer, Altuve, Correa, McCann, McCullers, Devenski, Marisnick-all out. The team was on pace to win more than last year’s team. How does any team absorb those injuries and keep rolling?
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Pretty simple, they dont.

Agree.

This. The walk was the killer.

Shitty defense, shitty bullpen. Not a recipe for success.

The bullpen was very good last night. Rondon not so much. The others held the fort.

Yes, several did their job. But it was game they led in the 9th and some did not.  One  or two bad apples, and all of that...
