He was pretty streamed about the balk call, too, especially since they scored three runs after that.But I think I've figured out the strategy. It's a rope-a-dope, and we're trying to get their batters so tired that they'll be worthless for the weekend.
A balk call when you think you’ve picked off the runner to end the inning, then allow 3 more runs on 2 more homers, I’m pretty sure he got his money’s worth before departing. Umpires discretion and all, but did JV actually balk? I missed it.
What was the balk call all about? I was half watching and saw the pickoff and then later was completely confused by the unexpected results.

Yeah, Bregman in particular had a rough night. He’s been carrying this team for a while though so not much you can say. Honestly, he was probably due to cool off a little.
