I am depressingly not surprised to see they went down in order in the first.

I agree with Kalas. It would've been a triple either way.

I was not aware that when we traded for Maldo he was in the midst of an 0-20+ slump. We didn’t acquire him for his bat of course, but he likely feels right at home in the clubhouse.

Phillies with another impressive performance in Boston tonight. They seem to have come of age quickly.

Met's defense gets two safeties, but it's not enough as they lose 25-4.

Hanger hammered foul.  Of course.

It’s an improvement to hammer a hanger before striking out on a slider over the recent tendency to take fastballs down the middle before striking out on a slider.

WTF happened to Springer?
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Literally trying to knock down a liner that he wasn't going to get to either way. Nice effort, but superfluous.

Dove trying to keep a ball from getting past him.

Landed awkwardly on his left arm.

(also there might have been a shift involved)

About Leake's approach: "He's being crazy aggressive in the strike zone."

Yeah, that's because everybody knows that there's nobody hitting that can hurt him. Just chunk it in there and let them get themselves out.

Can AJ reed play center? Or should we shift one of our other three starting first basemen to OF and let Reed play IF?

I’m a bit perplexed by the pronunciation of “Schoop.” It’s really “scope?”

Oh, he'll walk, but he'll be crippled, and we'll be forced to play him. In center field.

Game over.

If you shut out the other guys, there's always the chance that somebody will accidentally run into a ball for a homer. Doing that twice, or doing it with somebody on base, just seems unreasonable.

I was just hoping for a weird Bregman pop-up, run scoring play or something.

Bases loaded,  nothing.

So of course the Ms take the lead in the bottom of the frame.

Come on, Leake. Throw some cement mixers.

Met's defense gets two safeties, but it's not enough as they lose 25-4.

Players were deflated when management didn't go out and get 'em some help.

Half check on ball 4 finds the bat,  so of course the next pitch results in a routine 5-3 out.

Off the fucking handle and it goes for a hit... I hope his hands are at least still buzzing.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Dear Marwin,

You are a fastball hitter.

That means when they throw you a fastball in the middle of the zone,  you should hit it

Preferable hard.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I was realistically just hoping for one win this series so it wouldn’t be a complete catastrophe. Tomorrow would be gravy if they can pull one more out.

One win was huge.  Last night was a 2-game swing in the standings.  And yes...it's August, I'm now checking the standings.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

At worst it means the hags can only gain 1 game in the standings from this series.

Also I liked getting Bregman hitting behind Josh.

I liked a few important hits.  It's been awhile and hope it stops the pressing.
