Stassi looks a bit like a zaftig Poseidon when he’s not wearing a hat. I hope that means he will give these seafarers a rough passage this game.

The astros are a few feet in the wrong direction from announcing their presence in Seattle with authority.

I missed him. Is it an ironic or an earnest ensemble?

Two squibbers that end up as singles, and three ball that are smoked for nothing.  That's baseball.

Yuli-Gattis-White is not exactly the same heart of the lineup Cerberus the Astros have been sending out for the last couple of seasons

He's owned the Astros and that was a shot at getting to him.  He's settled in and it doesn't look promising.

Hey Marwin, know what's real endearing? Flailing at a pitch you couldn't hit with a snow shovel then just walking away instead of, you know, attempting running out your shitty at bat.

Astros hitters are back to the disturbing trend of taking fastballs right down the middle, so they can get 2-strike sliders in the dirt.

If Kemp would learn that he's not a power hitter, he could easily hit .300-.320.

Remember the time Biggio was hit but the ump would not award him 1B?

Biggio was tossed a few seconds later.

He took a cookie right down the middle for strike one, the took strike three which was all ball in the zone.

8th
Colomé (RHP) pitching
Josh takes a FB down the middle,  misses a slider badly,  but worked the count full before flying out to LF
Stassi smokes a single to left
Kemp looks foolish,  Ks swinging
Springer falls behind 0-2, almost gets his bell rung high and tight 1-2, takes one in the dirt 2-2, takes high/inside again 3-2, finally walks
Bregman takes a freaking cookie 0-1, another 0-2, next once is low 1-2, inside 2-2, fouls a mistake (middle/middle), takes a ball in the dirt 3-2, Ks swinging on a slider.

The 2-2 pitch to Bregman was the one to hit.

Bottom 8
Pressly still on the bump
Marwin at second,  Yuli to first,  Josh to right,  Springer to Center

Segura out 4-3
SpanRicochets one off Pressly's foot 1-4-3
Cruz out on a grounder to SS

End 8
Utterly Hopeless

Enjoy the division lead for a few more days. If something doesn't give shortly, the Astros will be chasing the Mariners for a while.

That was shit. Another pitching gem flushed down the toilet.

Bregman,  our best hitter in the lineup,  was up with the game on the line and had 3 juicy FBs, swung at 1 that split the zone but could just weakly foul it.

Work backwards from there to find other near misses/missed chances.  But that was the AB of the game.

3rd place by next week looking more and more likely.

They need to acquire a bat tomorrow.  Too many holes in this lineup right now.  Also, the Yuli at 2nd experiment needs to end.  Put Kemp or Marwin there instead.

Seriously...where the fuck is Correa?  Does he have a bone showing?  If not...

We’re playing three first basemen in the infield and a second baseman in left.

Calling JD Davis a 1st Baseman is insulting to me.

Why doesn't Kemp play 2B with Altuve out?

This is a real fucking head scratcher to me, but I'm hesitant to be critical as they must have a reason for the lineup(s) they've been using.

I realize that some of these other pitchers have been pretty good, but Marwin just looks helpless right now.

It doesn't help the optics that he seems to never run out ground balls.

People need to temper their expectations of Marwin.  This is who he is.  He had a career year last near, a pretty big anamoly.  It's unreasonable to expect that again.

I'm fine with him being a .240ish hitter with some pop. I could do without the sulky ass attitude though.

He's kinda always had that look about him, but it's not as glaring when he's hitting .300

This is worst year since his first two part-time years, 12 and 13.  Hitting his average would mean hitting .30 to .40 points higher and slugging .50 to .60 points higher.

He seems to be sort of an every-other-year guy. Who was that NL hitter with those real glaring splits? JT Snow? And isn’t Asdrubal Cabrera another one?

When you are hitting .300 you call it swag.

When Springer was awarded the WS MVP he said something like "I love all my teammates,  even Marwin Gonzalez!"

Pretty funny.
