On a positive note, the "Astros Buddy Club"  which includes four tickets and a bunch of other swag was a bargain at only $27. My nine year old thinks its the best deal ever.

He also agrees that paying 12 bucks for a pretzel and Mr. Pibb seems like gouging (especially since the soda in question does not have an advanced degree).

Feld box seats have increased from $59 per seat to $88 per seat.

I guess they figure enough people are on the waiting list where they can sell them all in 2019, but good God, that's a lot.

My field box seats (Section 106, left field line) are going from $59 per seat to $88 per seat.

I thought it was weird that they only increased from $55 to $59 from 2017 to 2018. I guess they figure enough people are on the waiting list where they can sell them all in 2019, but good God, that's a lot.

Mine went from $90 per seat to $130 per seat.  I may have wanted them to get a bat, but I didn’t want to pay for it all by myself.  I suspect that kind of jump drives off corporate clients.

I'll be curious to see. At $59 each, I can sell enough on StubHub and get enough friends to go to make it worthwhile. But the market at $88 each is a lot different.

I should've suspected something when the opening day tickets went on sale and were absurdly priced.

Maybe we each get to sponsor a player next season.

On the contrary, I think it drives off the long-time season ticket holders and families and limits the buyer universe to corporate clients that are less price sensitive. The field boxes at MMPUS will start to resemble the demographics of the lower bowl at Rockets games and Yankee Stadium. Corporate clients will spend the money to buy the tickets while the product is good and think it’s an effective draw for business development. How many families of four want to spring for a $30k entertainment expense? Or reduce the cost by selling down to friends or on the secondary market? That’s a shit load of work when there are 81 games.

When I lived in Colorado, we had a group that bought season tickets to the Rockies (obviously they have not won a World Series) and we each bought a share which consisted of 8 games.   We had to pay early so the tickets could be bought and then had a 'game draft' where all the home games were fairly divided up.

I did the same thing with Nats games and it was understood by the other 3 in my group that I got any Astros tickets.

I'm in a group as well. We're supposed to have 9 games apiece, but lost some members during the dark years.
