Up the middle
« on: July 28, 2018, 09:36:09 pm »
You know the old saw about good teams being strong up the middle? Well, our C, SS, and 2B are all on the DL. Springer should be afraid. Very afraid.

These are the times that try fans’ souls. Do not bail on this team.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Maybe that's why he didn't catch the Odor ball.

Btw last year Marwin had 9 errors. He's already got 7 this year.

This is part of the reason it is so hard to repeat.  Injuries get compounded by having that World Series winner target on your back.  Every team brings their A game to beat you.  The best teams weather the storms.  Champions take everyone’s best shot but remain standing at the end.  They currently hold the third best record in the league.  They have to keeping taking the shots and give some back when they can.
Goin' for a bus ride.

Not going anywhere. There was a point last season where we were down a few starting pitchers and persevered. I have faith in Luhnow and Co. to get what we need.

Speaking of, Yuli gets the start at 2B today.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Surprised it is not Kemp at 2B and Yuli at 3B

Guess it's matchup reasons and/or wanting to give Marwin and Tucker a day off?

I haven't seen enough of Kemp at 2B to have an opinion on him, but I know he's played there a lot in the minors.

Last year, I believe around this time the Astros had a similar trying time when for several weeks they seemed like the worst team in baseball.  People, including myself were starting to worry.  Hopefully the ship will right itself in the coming weeks.

Agree, we were in greater trouble last year. Question, is Correa a better physical fit at a different position? Less prone to injury?

.

Shortstop did not hurt his back. Playing baseball did.

Difference is, the 2017 Astros never had less than an 11-game division lead during their August swoon.  The rest of the AL West is much better this year.
