Keuchel seems to be having a little trouble with command in the early going. Hopefully he'll sort that out before it bites him.

Good to see soft contact.

Something to watch: the second pitch to Beltre was at the bottom of the zone,  called a ball.   Let's hope that is a strike most of the time tonight.

Vanover had better give that same pitch to Keuchel.

Good try by Keuchel, but I don't think that was the right play. At this point in the game, get the out.

T2:

Chirinos doubles to CF
Calhoun strikes out swinging
Kiner-Falefa with a broken bat infield single, Chirinos to 3B
Tocci bunts, Keuchel fields it and tries to glove flip to the plate, but has no chance. Chirinos scores, Kiner-Falefa to 2B
Choo chops to 1B, Yuli fields it, but drops it on the transfer. E3. Kiner-Falefa to 3B, Tocci to 2B
Profar strikes out swinging
Andrus grounds out 5-3 on a nice backhanded play by Davis

Had to get five outs, and it’s 1-0 Rangers.

Why would you think the Astros wouldn’t have drafted Bregman?

With Bryant and Correa in the fold, I don't think they would have used the pick on another infielder, but maybe I'm wrong. Also, they wouldn't have had Appel, so they might have been looking at pitching.

The glove flip was a nice thought,  but the out would have been better.  Tack on Yuli's E3 and lucky to escape with 1 run scored.

Well, Bregman was compensation fir nit signing a pitcher, so who knows. Lots happened in between. But I agree, I’m glad they got Bregman.

He was the compensation pick for the lefty with the bad elbow (Aiken?), right?

No Altuve, no Correa (is he still alive?), no McCann...at home...be happy with a run every other game.

I didn't realize it until I looked at the dates, but it's been a full month without Correa now. Last game was June 25.

I didn't realize it until I looked at the dates, but it's been a full month without Correa now. Last game was June 25.

I'm hoping they're simply being cautious/patient with CC similar to last year.

I'm also hoping we don't have to endure August 2017 again this year.

It's fucking embarrassing how terrible they've been at home against this fucking TERRIBLE baseball team.

The 10th inning Tuesday was an anomaly.   The offense was terrible for 2 straight nights including 8 consecutive hitless innings Tuesday and all of 1 hit Wed.

Tonight the pitching decided to suck so its a team effort.

Better than nothing, I suppose. It figures that it comes one out too late, as a lead-off solo homer instead of a three-run shot in the previous inning.

On a historic GIDP pace...50% more than the next closest team. Astros have had the bases loaded 88 times this year...10 times they grounded into inning-ending double plays.

I just figured out why this guy Tucci annoys me so much. Beyond his being a Ranger and his tattoo, I mean. He reminds me of that idiot Jordan Schreefer.

He's also hitting .200, so he's got that going for him.

At least they don't have to face hamel this series.

Solid pickup. But it's getting clearer by the inning that they need a bat.

I feel the same way but I’m trying not to overreact. We r missing Altuve and Correa and that will be tough to overcome. One thing however keeps staring me in the face. This team just isn’t as good offensively this year as last. Reddick, Gonzo and Springer are not putting up the same numbers as last year and Altuve hasn’t hit for as much power as last year. I want a bat too but as Jim says, where are you playing them? Who you benching?

I know are starting pitching is good but IF, and I do mean IF you were to be fortunate enough to play into October, can this lineup outhit Boston or NY in 7 games??

T9:

Devo in

Profar homers to RCF on the first pitch
Andrus  shiftfuck single on a slow ground ball to 2B on the first pitch
Beltre singles to RF, Andrus to 2B
Guzman...0-2...1-2...2-2...singles to CF, Andrus scores, Beltre to 3B as Springer loafs after it, Guzman to 2B on the throw to 3B
Chirinos...full count...walks

That’s it for Devo. Still hasn’t recorded an out since July 14th...Sipp in

Calhoun flies out to a RF...Beltre holds, goes back to 3B, but Reddick throws to 2B, wildly. and Beltre changes his mind and trots in
Kiner-Falefa bloops a single to LF, Guzman scores, Chirinos to 2B
Tocci singles to LF, Chirinos to 3B, Kiner-Falefa to 2B
Choo grounds out 3U, Chirinos scores (closing the book on Devo), Kiner-Falefa to 3B, Tocci to 2B
Profar...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging

11-1 Rangers

B9:

Mann in for the Rangers

Gattis lines a single off the LF wall
Marwin pops out F2
Davis doubles to LCF, Gattis to 3B
Maldonado, pinch hitting for Stassi...flies out F9, Gattis scores, Davis to 3B on the sac fly
Kemp strikes out swinging

Astros go down 11-2

On July 10th, Devenski had pitched 35.1 innings and had a 1.73 ERA.  As of today, he’s thrown 38.2 innings and his ERA is 4.19. He’s given up 8 earned runs since the last time he recorded an out.

According to baseball-reference, he had 4 years and 102 days at the start of the season, which is actually 4.6 years, so he’s passed the 5-year mark. He can’t be optioned without his permission.

Yeah, I was hoping for that too. Doesn’t look quite ready unfortunately. Just needs more AB’s. If they do make a move for a bat I’m sure he’ll be the one going down to make room if that bat is an OF. If so he’ll be back in September for more AB’s and I’m sure he will given every opportunity to win the starting job next spring.

EDIT: Forgot about Davis. He is probably the one sent down if they get a bat.

If they don’t make a mover for a bat, then I would expect them to let him continue to work through this like they did with Bregman.

If a move for a bat is made he’ll be an outfielder.  Therefore it’ll be Tucker.  When Correa returns Davis goes.
