Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was safe, but I guess Hinch didn't want to use it up in the first inning.

I guess he didn’t either, but I wonder what the calculus is there—especially given the Bannister model of receiving unlimited challenges. If you potentially have the opponent’s starter on the ropes in the first inning of the first game of the series, seems to me you’d press the case. Maybe they saw an angle where he was definitively out.

I agree with the logic, but he looked out to me. Terrible baserunning. Thankfully don't see that often from this club.

He had that exact same hit yesterday. It's like he knows it's going to be 4 inches off the plate. I mean it's 98mph out there, you don't just "let it travel" when it's 98mph out there.
