sounds good, but will it be enough to get back by the end of the season

He'll be back.

They've probably already mapped out how many pitches/ innings they want him to throw down the final stretch.

If they make a five game series, they are going to have to make some tough decisions on the roster.

I hope he gets some reps the last week of the season.  A’s may make that hard.

George Springer is not in the Astros' lineup because he's banged up. His leg has bothered him (Hinch noticed he ran "a little funny") and he aggravated his previously sprained thumb on a swing last night.

Mark Berman @MarkBermanFox26 14m ago
AJ Hinch says Carlos Correa will also be out tomorrow and then they'll see for the rest of the week.

I saw this morning Hinch hoped to get him in the game either tonight or tomorrow.

Charlie Morton is back in Houston with his wife who is expecting their fourth child in the next few days. Hinch was confident that he would pitch again this season.

When Altuve fell he hit his right knee on the ground and had same knee soreness he’d been battling lately. Scary at first but felt better with time.

Let’s all hope it doesn’t progress to the dreaded right knee discomfort.

McCullers' elbow: A tweet from freelance reporter Joe DeMayo, citing a source, stated Astros righthander Lance McCullers Jr. pitched through a torn ulnar collateral ligament during the postseason and would "likely require" Tommy John surgery in the offseason.

Morton's shoulder: ...said his shoulder joint is "fine" and he'd like to keep playing. "I don't know. I'm not sure yet," Morton said when asked if he'd address his shoulder in the offseason. "Probably try to see how it feels here in the short term, see what needs to be done. But moving forward here in the next week we'll try to figure something out and see if I need to see somebody."

Altuve's knee: Asked specifically what his injury was, Altuve said (with a smile): "The trainers told me, but I have a short memory."

This guy is a "reporter" for the Mets' SB Nation site, so I'd love to see who his Astros source is.  I, for one, don't buy that the Astros would knowingly pitch McCullers with a blown UCL.

Doesn't have to be fully blown to require surgery. If a partial tear is severe enough and surgery is the recommended route, you can't do any further harm by continuing to pitch. If it becomes fully torn, surgery either way.

No they are not...

Quote
McCullers was coy when asked about a report stating he was pitching through a tear of his ulnar collateral ligament and was headed for Tommy John surgery, which would put him out for all of 2019. "We're going to figure all that stuff out," he said. "I'm pretty banged up. Other guys are banged up, too. That's going to be something down the road the next couple of days, the next couple of weeks we'll figure out."When asked if he was headed for surgery, McCullers said: "We've got to speak with the training staff. I'm going to do my standard postseason MRI stuff, see all the doctors, see how I'm feeling. I've definitely been throwing through some stuff."

If McCullers does indeed have to have Tommy john, I'd imagine that will happen within the next week or so. That would give him a full year plus next offseason to recover/rehab. I'm very sceptical about a mets blogger having insider info that say Kaplan doesnt have but if it's true we should find out soon

Even the Astros' press release failed to describe the type of knee surgery he had.

Maybe the Mets blogger can find out for us.

An avulsion fracture involves the detachment of a bone fragment that results from the pulling away of a ligament, tendon, or joint capsule from its point of attachment on a bone.

I have a feeling this team was much more injured than we realized.  The fact that they had as much success as they did shows how much fight they did have.

And Joe West just pisses me off even more now knowing what he stole from Altuve.

....I can't imagine how brutal it would have been for the Astros if they had won last night and then had to make the trip to Boston to try to pull-out two more wins.  Maybe, for the sake of our players, all ended well, and our beloved Altuve and other players can get the medical care and recovery time needed to mend the injuries mentioned in the article....

Cannot imagine how painful if would have been for Altuve to try to push thru his pain for as many as 9 more games to win another WS now.

He hit .268/.359/.402 after the injury which is still 17% above the average MLB hitter.  That man is incredible.

Note to self, never read the comments.  I hate Red Sox fans.  Yeah, the Astros lost and yeah, Bostom is a good team.  But, don't think we won't support our team and think they are great.  I would expect no less from any fan.  I don't know how both teams lose the WS, but I hope they do.

I like readers comments, I often take a look without even reading the article.  The comments can be e lot more entertaining than the article and a lot of times will reveal  the writer as one-eye, a complete dickhead or both.   I also think of various scenarios that has both teams losing... but I am a bit of a hater.

Yes!
Prior to the Internet, if you're hungry enough for Astros news while living in a foreign land (o/s TX), you will read whatever you can get  - including comments - and even listen to games on 'enemy' stations that have strong radio signals, like SL, Atl, Cinn, etc., when they play the Astros.
