That may be. But Correa is still not hitting, be it because of back problems, knee problems, or because Jobu is on vacation. Results matter.
Correa had a great April and a decent June. That's it. Correa is only hitting .239 (before tonight's game) against righties, which is troubling.
I think that it's time to consider making Bregman the SS and trading Correa, who would fetch a huge price, easily a proven bat or a lockdown closer, and a prospect or two.
I watch Frankie Lindor play almost every night. Frankly, Correa isn't in Lindor's league. Lindor is a better overall hitter, better power hitter, better baserunner, better run producer and better fielder and a switch hitter to boot. I think that Bregman is a better SS right now than Correa. Correa drew comparisons to A-Rod when drafted. Candidly, he's come nowhere close to that comparison, which probably was grossly unfair to Correa. Lindor compares much more favorably to A-Rod, at least in numbers, but even his numbers are much lower than A-Rod's. Simply put, A-Rod was the Mike Trout of his generation.
In my opinion, Ground Control should at least countenance the possibility of trading Correa, probably in the off-season. He's obviously a great kid and a good clubhouse guy, and I'd hate to see him go. However, business is business. Oakland and Seattle are relentless. Our margin for error in repeating is miniscule. Luhnow et al. have to consider every realistic possibility to improve the club, which needs production out of LF and a lockdown closer badly.
