Did Cabrera beat me to it?

Without arbitration. The blurb I read said one more arbitration year after this deal expires.

ETA: they were at $10.5 and $8.5 going into the hearing.

That's a pretty good compromise.

That's a pretty good compromise.

$24M split evenly, $12M in each year.

Does that buy Houston any more service time with GS?

No.  Just avoids arbitration this year and next year.

Now McHugh is only remaining arbitration case.  $5 million v $4.55 million.

He's still got 2018, 2019, and 2020 before becoming a free agent. This just gives him a larger 2018 salary in exchange for probably saving the Astros a couple mil on his 2019 salary (I assume if he had a typical season this year, their financial projections showed him getting more than $14m in 2019 via arbitration). I suppose it could end up making his 2020 salary lower, too; I'm not totally sure it works that way though.

They'll make that up in Springer jerseys.

We paid for their failure too.
