Carlos Lee got one vote.

Which brings up an interesting question...who is the best player to never receive a single HOF vote?  Many people will say Cecil Cooper.

Pete Rose would be another good name, but probably should be limited to people who appeared on the ballot.

The Astrodome may have kept Wynn out of the HOF. At the very least off of annual All-Star game trips. The best underappreciated player I saw.

So how many early 90s HOF Braves are in to garner one World series championship?

Am I the only one who doesn't see thome as a no doubt HOFer? I never thought of him as a HOFer while he was playing. Maybe I didn't watch him enough and maybe it's my age showing

Thome snuck up on me too. I guess the 612 home runs and 10 post seasons did it. The rest of his resume is fairly pedestrian.

I think they played the Forbes Field homer on opening day so that Todd Kalas could talk about his dad's history with the Astros a little.

I felt the same way the last couple years of his career when he kept being described as a sure-fire hall of famer.  I guess 600 home runs goes a long  way if you aren't Bonds or Sosa.

Saw somewhere that he's got twice the number of postseason homers as Big Papi, who will slide into Cooperstown on the trail of saliva left by the entire east coast baseball media.

FWIW, he wasn't just a power guy; he also had a career OBP over .400, giving him a .956 OPS over 10,000 ABs. That ranks 18th all-time.

Nos. 15-20:
15. Joey Votto
16. Larry Walker
17. Johnny Mize
18. Thome
19. Todd Helton
20. Bagwell

Totally get the "he didn't feel like a HOFer," though. I think you could say that about each of the first five guys listed there (and some said it about Bagwell, though we know better after watching him every day.)

Good find. That is a GREAT .OPS which is a stat I consider a great indicator of offensive value.

A lot of people said that about Biggio too.  That he was a good player for a long time, but never a great one.  That if he'd had the exact same career with 2,999 hits, he wouldn't sniff induction.
