Thank you for lifting me up when we were down 4-0 -- almost went to bed.

I would have missed a masterclass in resilience, toughness and hitting the shit out of the ball.

Thanks DV -- its not your first state fair!

You’re welcome.  I just believe this lineup is really special.  Top to bottom there are no easy outs, and when clucking, they can hit anyone.  That’s why I was upbeat at 4-0.

But now the pen needs to do its job.

Yeah, some walks too.

I am praying to sweet little baby Jesus with his tuxedo t-shirt because he’s formal and also likes to party that there will be no more walks for the Dodgers.

I don't like to complain about balls and strikes, but ball 3 has been a strike all night,

T7, 11 - 8, 1 out, man on 2nd

Taylor
strike, (why do they let the batter call time out when the pitcher is in his windup?), Ball ran in and hit Taylor.

That's it for Peacock.. Harris comes in with a man on 1st and 2nd.

Harris often allows inherited runners to score. One of the reasons I have to walk around the room when he pitches.

interesting conversation that the mic picked up between Woodward and Taylor on the fly to Reddick.  Sounds like Woodward meant to send him, but Taylor could not hear.  Afterward Woodward said that he probably would have been out anyway with the throw.

And just exactly what the hell's wrong with Axe body spray?
I've never used a body spray. Does one spray from head to toe, front and back?

I'm confident enough, but I would feel more confident if we were able to tack on 2 or 3.

interesting conversation that the mic picked up between Woodward and Taylor on the fly to Reddick.  Sounds like Woodward meant to send him, but Taylor could not hear.  Afterward Woodward said that he probably would have been out anyway with the throw.
I once read a book from an Oklahoma weathercaster who talked about when they had to break into programming for tornado warnings. The producer would ask him “are you ready” and he would say “no”, but the producer thought he said “go” and went live before he was ready. They had to come up with different words to use. Seems like a baseball team would do the same.

MCCANN!!! He was due!

Interesting (well sorta) reversal of fortunes in that stat showing LA has stranded 7 and Houston has stranded 2. I hadn't thought about that and I guess its because we didn't leave, like, 11 guys out there tonight.

B8, 12 - 9, 1 out

Rod Stripling pitches to
Springer
strike, ball down and out, strike called at the top of the zone, ball in the dirt, ball so far outside, Barnes can't corral it, single to right center..

Yep. Stripling really didn't want to give him anything to hit and he hit and he hit the only one to hit.

Also, when Springer walked I got to explain to my wife and son the strategy behind pinch running for McCann. Glad that they got to see it come to fruition.

Put it near the statue of McNair they're planning for the football stadium and he could be hurrying McNair along to the Klan rally.

The emotional high reminds me of Kent’s walkoff in 2004 NLCS.  Now, they need to go on the road and finish the deal, which they couldn’t in 2004.  But they have Verlander on the mound instead of Pete Munro.

You’re welcome.  I just believe this lineup is really special.  Top to bottom there are no easy outs, and when clucking, they can hit anyone.  That’s why I was upbeat at 4-0.

But now the pen needs to do its job.

Strap on and clucking.  You are on fire!

What an amazing team win.  Right down to the fact that putting in Fisher to run was a no-brainer because Centeno is on the team.  Probably would have had to pinch run for McCann anyway, but it's a much easier decision knowing you won't forfeit both the DH spot and defensive ability.

Crazy to say, but I doubt one more reliever would have made such a difference given the infectious leakiness of the pen.

That the Astros scorched their pen, after Keuchel got knocked out early, is not surprising.  The fact that the Dodgers scorched their pen...again...behind a seemingly functional Kershaw is surprising.

One thing getting lost in all the drama of this series is that main strength / advantage the Dodgers had was their bullpen.  Unhittable, they said.  Invincible, they said.  The best closer in baseball, they said.  Well the Astros have taken all those words, rolled them up in a newspaper, and shoved them up Dodgerdom's 'arris.  The thing the Dodgers knew they could rely on, they now know that they can't.

That has to be a very scary proposition going into Game #6 with Rich "King of 5 Innings" Hill on the mound.

It's a team sport, and when Fisher was asked to do what was almost certainly the only thing he'll be asked to do in this Series, he did it exquisitely.  Got a good lead, took a perfect path, cut the corner like a pro, and made a potentially close play not close at all.

If the Astros win the series, they should put a statue of Pettis doing the windmill in front of MM.

My seats weren’t that close. Ended up on the big board during the celebration, though.

Even though we were down, early Mark and I thought we saw signs Kershaw was not as good as in LA. His FB was only 91-92, and he was not striking out anyone. He certainly was not unhittable as the 4th inning vaunting showed.

What a game!

OMG that was great.

I was an emotional roller coaster throughout this entire game.  I told my sister that Jansen wasn't going to be successful the second inning he pitched.

MMP was a rock party.

I met Yuli's brother (all because of his t-shirt) when leaving MMP.

I am so incredibly happy for those guys.  Truly happy for all those players and I get such joy from their smiles.

Who, Lourdes Jr?

I think so but not positive.  I was not thinking about Lourdes until after we both went our separate ways, but it looks like him in his pictures online.  He was definitely a younger looking Yuli.  Very nice too.

ETA:  I always forget about asking their name until after the moment passes.

The emotional roller coaster was extreme. The Dodgers took the crowd out of it early, then Yuli’s blast got it rocking again. Bellinger’s homer put the lid back on, then Altuve’s answering homer tore it off again. On and on it went back and forth like a tennis match between elite players. I was exhausted, and for real and for awhile, I feared I was experiencing a very untimely cardiac event. I do not know if I scared Mark, but I was seriously alarmed. We got back to where we were staying about 1:40 am and stayed up for more than an hour reading and talking about the game. Mark kept saying “It does not seem real.” I did not sleep a wink until we left at 6 am to get Mark back home for work.

What a game! Such a memorable experience for me made better because Mark was there too.

I'm so glad you guys got to see the game together; that's how it should be. And I'm really glad your heart is OK!

Paramedics hauled somebody out on a stretcher near us.  It was in the early innings, too.

Was not me, thank goodness.

ETA: I do not have heart disease in my family and never any hint of heart issues myself, so the sensations I was experiencing were unsettling to say the least.

I would've been a lot more alarmed if I hadn't gone through that same feeling 2-3 times already during the game.

When Altuve hit his home run, I had to sit down for a few seconds. I literally yelled myself out of oxygen, then forgot how to breathe for about 5 seconds. I had a really pretty black fireworks show happening before I realized I was in a bit of distress.

Never got that bad for me but I did get light headed a few times.

And my heart rate is already high today.

Turns out I was in the section just in front of you and Jim.  Sorry I missed a chance to meet you guys (and BG at the ALDS G2, and all the other OWAers).

If I had a doctor's appointment today, I would have rescheduled.  No way I'd let someone take my blood pressure today (or any game day at this point).

If he PBPs an Astros clincher, he can own the whole goddamn web site.

I don't need another website to manage..   You guys do a great job.
