BEAT L A
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

At least for those of us who remember when the Astros were in the NL West.

There was a group called "Dodger Haters" at the dome during L.A. visits. I personally developed a healthy hatred for the Dodgers centered on that loud-mouth Lasorda. "I got you first place rental right here! you Tweedle Dee looking sonuvabitch!"

Managers wearing uniforms is a silly concept. No manager has ever looked as ridiculous in a uniform as that jelly roll.

Managers once sometimes coached third. One has to be in uniform to do that. Not silly at all.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

In the ABL a lot of managers still coach third base.  Now to be clear, the ABL is not quite MLB.

It's still very weird to me that the Astros are facing the Dodgers in the World Series. Like someone made a mistake.

Fuck everything about LA. Fuck Lasorda. I still hate those bastards. I have a picture with Tommy Lasorda and me in my office that comes with a funny story that you'd never suspect if you looked at that picture. Suffice it to say that we were in each other's faces about Dodgers-Astros. I called him a fucking asshole. He called me a low rent Astros fan, said I was stupid to root for the Astros and called me a motherfucker at least three times. He started it. It was at a political fundraiser for a mutual friend prior to a Dodgers-Athletics exhibition game in the Superdome.

The Astros are going to have to win at least one on the road if they want to take it all.

My Dodger hate will never diminish.  My first year being an Astros fan was 1978.  '79-'81 should be explanation enough why I hate Dodger Blue so much.

I'm going to have to bone up on this opponent, as I've watched little NL ball lately. Kershaw, Hill and some fucking ex-Ranger.  Jansen in the pen. Puig, Peterson, Hernandez and a bunch of youngsters I've never seen play in the field.  Hope their youngsters feel the pressure.

If my memory serves me, their fans/home field shouldn't be too rowdy. And of course, it will start in the sun without wind, rain or cold.

Puig is a very passionate, goofy, and weird player.  I love watching him play because he is so unpredictable in so many ways.  It will be weird rooting against him.

I was thinking the same thing.

I was thinking about the great pitchers of my youth: Gibson, Drysdale, Marichal, Koufax...then I was thinking of what would happen if a batter stood posing at the plate while the ball cleared the fence by inches (or really cleared by any amount). My God, there would be hell to pay.

We must be about the same age. Of all the NL teams to play in the WS, they'd be my top choice just for old time's sake. Easy to get your hate going against them.

I told my 17 year old son that the last time the Astros & Dodgers faced of in the post season, the Astros were in the NL and the Brewers were in the AL.  Ahhh the good old days.
Always ready to go to a game.
