We really need the Good Guys to come right out in the first inning and hang a crooked number on the Yanks.  Then we need to do the same thing again in the 2nd or 3rd inning.  After that we just hope our pitching can make it stick.  Ready for the game.  Go Stros!

I thought a DH hitting 7th was sad, until I saw where they have Hedy.  Sanchez batting 3rd is interesting, given a 4 for 23 post-season average.

Need Keuchel to be at his witchy best this afternoon.

Enormous pressure on Keuchel - no hitting; no bullpen. He must feel like he is taking on the Yaankees single handedly.

Time for Bregman to return to form.   He was so solid the second half.

And Springer might want to pounce on a first pitch FB if they're gonna freaking groove them.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Thomas, Hernandez, Ortiz, and A-rod all predict a Yankee win.  I hope the Astros get that win, not that it will shut any of their biased pie holes up.

Every hitter in the lineup is trying to yank a cheap home run.

Good to see Meals has a strike zone for the Yankee hitters and one for Astros hitters. Unsurprisingly, the Yankees one is about 4 inches wider across.

I couldn't go to tonight's game after last night's experience.  It was way too scary wearing Astros stuff at Yankee Stadium last night.  People were way too drunk.  So I'm really happy to be watching the game with you guys tonight.

I rather think it is because he can be aware of the situation when at the plate.  It has not seemed to matter much in these last 2/3 games but...

But, hell, I'm ready to have Centeno and Fisher play.

Yes, but he has trouble driving in runs.  I get that someone has to DH.  But you don't have to hit them in an RBI spot.

So, runner on second and he scores.

Hmm, of course, Keuchel is going to need runs today.   This team seems to be playing so tense they don't look like themselves.

He would if he would call that same shit 4 inches off the outside corner like he is for Tanaka

Heard Sparks say in pregame that he ranks 6 out of 90 umpires in least amount of called strikes. Neat stat that I had never heard before - stats on umpires.

If I were a MLB ump, I'd NEVER call a close pitch that a catcher snatched at like that. Jesus Christ, Sanchez is pulling ankle high pitches up again.

Maybe tip off the Astros hitters that Tanaka is going to throw around the bottom of the zone mostly, and to wait back and crush it...

Lead off base runners each of the last two innings and they squandered both. This has to stop NOW. And I mean when we come to bat again. Not literally now.

The other best team in Astros history, the 1998, saw their incredible offense fall off the cliff in the playoffs. It happens, particularly with younger players. Dallas is not going to be able to shut down the Yankees by himself, particularly with this ump.

Marwin lobbed that ball back to the infield and they just missed Gardner at the plate.

Both teams are gonna be aggressive here. The outfielders can't assume the runner is gonna stop at 3rd

Altuve's average dropped to .313 after his last at bat. This is higher than Beltran, McCann, Springer, and Reddick's combined. WTF?

Our vaunted offense needs a quick meeting in the tunnel that goes something like this:

Correa: we gotta pull our heads out of our collective asses and get some runs now.

Altuve: ok, let's do it!

Correa is one of the guiltiest of all.

Bases juiced in Game 3 with a chance to get back in the game and he never even makes contact, and it's gotten worse from there.

Just down two runs, and although the Astros haven't hit much this series, what hitting they have done has been against the bullpen.

I don't think it will take much to shake off the funk and start the vauntin', I just hope they hurry up.

Is it me? But in that moment, if I watch the fattest most hittable pitch into the catchers glove, I'm breaking my bat or destroying part of the dugout. Springer didn't seem to be the least bit concerned, chewing his bubble gum.

The next inning for the Astros is going to be key.  They have to score with Altuve/Correa/Gurriel/Bregman.

Needless to say, Dallas needs to be perfect.

Overall, the ball-strike calls have been abysmal all season. I dream of a game where consistency in the strike zone is a reality not only within a game, which is hard enough for these guys, but throughout all games everywhere in MLB.

Harris went from All-Star to far end of the bullpen pretty quick. Wonder if he is healthy. Wonder if he will be back. They need to do some serious reworking of the pen this winter.

I guess that means if they're fortunate enough to get it to a Game 7, McHugh is your starter.

Well if they were going to lay down like this, it would have been better if they had just done it against the Red Sox, when we would have somewhat accepted that they simply had stumbled down the stretch and that the first half Astros were just an apparition.  I know there are 2 possible home games to win, but these Yankees have all the momentum and will likely steamroll their way to LA

Verlander can make the start of his life (again), but if they don't start swinging the bats . . .

Unless something changes in Game 6/7, this has to be one of the worst offensive performances in postseason history. Adjusted for context it might be the very worst, as the only comparable events I can think of happened in the dead ball era or 1960's (Dodgers in 1966 World Series, etc.).

I'm pretty sure he knows he got himself into the fucking American League Championship Series, with a chance to pitch his team to the fucking World Series.  Something that was not possible in his previous situation.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

You know, our guys got it handed to them the last three days. I've been as down as anybody about that because I so badly want them to win. Not for me, a long-denied Houston baseball fan, but for themselves. They clearly were outclassed the last three days offensively by Yankee pitching. But I'm kind of appalled by some comments on this board that indicate they don't care or aren't showing up to play. If I ever believe that I will be done with them until/unless I am convinced something has changed but I'm not buying into that shit. Sometimes you just get beat because the other guy is better on that particular day.

some interesting stuff I found this morning: Teams trailing 3-2 with games 6 & 7 at home have won the series 13-27xs. http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/258981942/history-of-3-2-comebacks-in-mlb-postseason/

13 of 20 Yankee runs this series have come with 2 outs.

*Statcast notes that the batting average on balls hit 95+ mph off the bat is .558. The Astros? .297. That's unlucky

Those 3 games were the August Astros.

I know this team can be much better.

My disgust yesterday was in what I perceived to be a dejected team well before the game was decided.  The Yankees may have flipped their script and screwed up our guys  approach (sliders instead of FBs on FB counts, etc). Props to the opponent if that's the case.  And if a few breaks happen,  who knows.  So maybe execution,  not effort was the problem.

I reserve my right to be extremely frustrated with Springer's giant swings.  But he's still one of my favorite players.

We all know this team can explode.   Right now we just need 1 game.
