Texted a few friends in Boston today. One of them informed me that he doesn't start to pay attention to a sport until Boston's inevitable postseason starts.

I've had gameday fake me out.  Sometimes it'll flash the strikeout animation,  sometimes the homerun one.

Peacock had was quick,

Line out,
Fly out,
Ground out.

Less than 10 pitches I think... maybe the game wont go more than 4 hours after all.

 11-for-14, 3 HRs, 11 RBIs

I'm gonna miss Blummer during the post season.

When ESPN aired the Astros-Rangers game on Wednesday, AT&T SportsNet Southwest aired the game on their network with the home announcers.  They should really allow the home TV crew to do the same in the playoffs.   They have home, road, and national radio broadcasts.

IIRC, the NBA allows home TV crews to air playoff games up until a certain point.

The MLB fun police says no, though.  Of course, it's all about the money.

There won't be any oppotacos or mccannon bombs.

And how great would it be for him to tell one of them, you look?

He's no JD but he's gotten so much better. Imagine how good he would be if he hadn't had to work with Ashby for so long?

There won't be any oppotacos or mccannon bombs.

And how great would it be for him to tell one of them, you look?

He's no JD but he's gotten so much better. Imagine how good he would be if he hadn't had to work with Ashby for so long?

This. His humor is much different than JD’s, but he is just as funny, and his baseball insight is just as knowledgeable. JD doing pbp with Blum on color would be HOF. MCCANNONBALL! cracks me up every time.

Bottom of 2

Peacock pitching

Moreland HR to LF
Ramirez FO to LF.
Devers grounds out pitcher to first.
Vasquez single to CF.
Bradley Jr.  pops to shallow CF, Maybin can't get there, Correa almost catches it but it bounces off the glove.
Bogarts batting with runners on the corners, hits one on the ground past a diving Gurriel into LF,  Vasquez scores, Bradley Jr. to second.
Pedroia down 0-2, foul, ball, ball, grounds out 6-3

End of 2  Astros lead 5-2

You have LF and RF confused in this post and in two others above. As you look as the field like a catcher does, RF is to the...wait for it...right, and LF is to the left. Moreland’s HR was to deep RF.

but when you're on a stage....    Well, I was cooking dinner and mostly listening to Kalas. I tried while I could but I always struggle typing anything. Thanks for the correction. Although it is extremely rare, I like it when you do play by play, Really like Mark's pbp most of all.

Edited to take out typos...

While I think JD is the superior color guy, he also had the advantage of working with Bill Brown.  Blum was saddled with horrible Ashby and now solid Kalas.  Vs JD getting to work years with Brown.   JD/Brown's chemistry is part of what made JD so great.

At the end of the day, Im really happy with the TV broadcast, Blum/Todd/Julia are excellent.

Let's not forget that HH is the one that does PBP more, by a large amount, than anyone on this board. When he is in the third-world, like now, it is rarely picked up by anybody and that is on all of us. HH does a great job IMHO and I appreciate his efforts and enjoy his work and appreciate anyone taking on that task. I tried it for a couple of innings during the day game and it is harder than it looks.

Agree with this 100%.

On a separate note, I like the new strategy of scoring 10+ runs and allowing 3 or less. Genius move by AJ.

I think it would be great if his 18 game win streak strategy can work out.

Me too.  You can just see Todd Kalas in the booth ... "Brian McCann hits one deep to right, way back, and it's gone!  That's Brian McCann's 17th home run on the season, and the Astros are now up 10 to 2!"    <silently points right finger to Blummer>

McCANNONBALL!

IMO, JD's humor is more cerebral and dry. Blum's humor is more referential and goofy. I like them both but over the long haul, I take JD.

They are both great but you all need to get over JD.  He's moved on.

Im not sure I understand this "get over" logic.   Sorry, I liked JD more.   There is nothing to get over.

Yep, but you do not have a choice. JD jilted us for FTC. He was the one with a choice, and he left. Did I read here someone saying he had listened to JD on a Cubs broadcast, and he is not the JD we had anymore?

I like Blum a lot. I like Kalas too. His upbeat style is so refreshing after sour, negative Ashby, he has great chemistry with Blum, and he obviously is thrilled to be an Astro.
