Middle of 4

Astros lead 4-0

Keuchle worked out of a bases loaded one out jam by inducing a 1-2-3 DP.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it

Two out rally in second that was triggered by a Fisher double.

I just don't get how Hinch could be so deft at handling the pen for three quarters of the year or whatever it was and then suddenly be so terrible at it. Of course I'd love to pin it on the FO but I just can't see the guys upstairs telling him that he has to get certain guys a certain amount of work.

I would assume that Giles for the 9th, but I can't remember how much he's been used recently.

This would be his third straight game.

Never thought I'd say it when he was a starter:

Must Love Musgrove

Sipp entering the game to "Sabotage" is a little too on the nose.

All relievers should enter to "Turd on the Run" until they have an outing without letting anyone on base.

Bottom of the 8th

Garton pitching

Gurriel - works count full, foul, foul, pops out to Segura in foul territory.
Fisher - hits first pitch into the RF gap for a double,
Springer - foul, line out to Haniger in RF. fisher tags up and advances to third.
Reddick - takes strike one, single to LF, Fisher scores
Altuve - grounds out 1-3

End of 8  Astros 8   Mariners 5

Top of 9

Musgrove in to close out

HanneMann - tapper back to Musgrove, out 1-3
Segura - ball, ball, pop up caught in foul territory by Gurriel
Haniger - ball, homers to LF
Cano - ball, foul, ball, ball, foul, 3-2, foul, a swing and a miss.

Astros win!!!!  8-6

game of the week
I need to look at the schedule more carefully, I only got to see the ninth.

Count your blessings you didn't see the 8th.

A lot easier to watch in replay when you know the final score.

Hinch has zero feel for handling the bullpen.

This is definitely not true.

Musgrove should have come in to start the inning.

Hindsight is great, ain't it? No one would use Musgrove with a 6 run lead. He stayed with Martes too long, but using him was the right move.

Yeah, I've got no problem with Martes starting the inning, but he should have been gone after the 3rd batter. He hasn't yet learned how to shake off adversity. I suppose one could argue that now is as good a time as any to work on it since there really isn't much at risk right now, but I'd like to see them start to get back to that mindset they had earlier in the year when really seemed to think that nobody could beat them. Having relievers throw gasoline on everything doesn't help in that regard. Thank heaven for Musgrove.

3 months ago Musgrove was going to be in AAA per the experts.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Hindsight isn't that great. Unless you have a time machine.
