Games this week
« on: August 27, 2017, 09:51:11 am »
Does it seem to anyone else that the simple solution is to move this week's series with the Rangers to Arlington, and move the last series with them to Houston?

That looks like the only solution to me. I am in the DFW metro. It is overcast here but no major rain forecasted.

It certainly makes the most sense. It would give us a whopping 12 game home stand right before the final series in Boston if they go that route.

It's not that easy. Would there be lodging available for the team and  traveling staff? Can they get essential personnel to the park on short notice? Do you force ticket-holders with admission for the series later to give those up for admission for this series only? Obviously there would be compensation lost for the Arlington franchise.

rangers flying home
astros will fly to dallas also

according to Luhnow there is no plan for the next series. They have tomorrow off. Sounds like it will be spent in DFW.

Both teams have off on Monday, Sept 18th.  You could do a double header that day.  Only problem is the Rangers are in LA on Sunday and have to be in Seattle on Tuesday.  Thats really a no-go.

Both teams are off on Thursday, Sept 7th....but you get the opposite.  Astros are in Seattle on Wednesday and have to be in Oakland on Friday.

It would make the most sense to switch the 2 series, but Rangers are gonna cry foul because they wouldn't be given a lot of notice in order to accommodate such a switch.  Said differently, they are gonna cry foul cuz they're pussies.

Seems to me this is what we are going to see happen...Astros play 3 games this week in Arlington and Astros play 3 games in Arlington in late September.
You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy, I don't give a shit. Good father, fuck you. Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit?

The simplest solution is to just move this week's games to Arlington and leave the rest of the schedule alone.

If the forecast holds true, it is hard to imagine a game played in Houston in the foreseeable future. This has got to be hard on the players. I assume some/many have homes, families, etc. in Houston.

Even if there weren’t, most freeways are impassable.  Add that to the fact that Buffalo Bayou is going to be an hours worth of rain away from going over its banks for a while, and there’s very few justifiable ways to hold games in Houston for the next several days.

Reid Ryan says that they went to the Rangers and asked to switch series. The Rangers' "offer" was to play all 6 games in Arlington.

MLB wanted a rivalry. Well by God, they got one. The Rangers can forever kiss my ass.

Although they are complete and total dicks (like everyone in the DFW metroplex), I kind of understand that it's not ideal for the Rangers to cancel 3 future games they've sold tickets to, etc.

Given that the Astros will have to fly from LA to St. Pete then take a red-eye to Seattle for a day game Monday, in the midst of a 21-day road trip, I'd almost rather just punk the Rangers six times in their own yard.

Meanwhile, Mattress Mac (or whatever to all call that Gallery Furniture guy down there) has opened up his doors to anyone for shelter, rendering his entire floor inventory to used status. That's good corporate citizenship. The Rays are good corporate citizenship. The Rangers absolutely are not. And they are fellow Texans. Shame on them.

Bullshit.  They would've recouped much of that revenue this week, and if needed, MLB could've made up the difference.  They just saw an opportunity to help their fledging playoff chances, and took it.

Ynez is a hot Cuban chick who works at the cigar shop in Tampa. I mentioned her in a post a while back and chuck can't seem to get her off his mind.

Which shop again? I might be able to stop by and get chuck a visual.

Long Ash, dude. Does everyone around here have the memory of a goldfish?

I've mined the Facebook friends of the shop's owner for someone with that name or something similar. No luck. I fear that our Ynez may turn out to be a 31 inch waist, just so much urban myth.

Think she was more like 35.  That's not her though.

This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs. Yeah whatever you say.

Just one of the many edits to Justice's article.
Quote
Regardless, this series in St. Petersburg could be must-see television given that Houston is fully aware the Rangers could have made the Astros’ lives a bit less chaotic, and deservedly so. Until now, they’d only rolled their eyes at Rangers manager Jeff Banister’s fist-pumping. Now they may be genuinely annoyed, if not infuriated.

Now, that paragraph simply reads:

Regardless, this series in St. Petersburg could be must-see action.
Always ready to go to a game.

Split DH. Requires two tickets.

People with tickets to the Friday night game are to use those tickets for entry to the 1:00 Saturday game.

http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/article/251459366/astros-to-play-mets-in-houston-this-weekend/

And there's this bit of good timing:

What's more, the 10,000 promotional Carlos Correa jerseys originally scheduled to be given to fans on Saturday will now be donated to the families sheltering at the George R Brown Convention Center. The Astros will also be donating the promotional T-shirts from Friday's Strozone to the GRB shelter.

Everything about these games at the Trop sucks. Except for the gracious hospitality displayed by the Rays org. That doesn't suck.

Had tickets to games on Saturday and Sunday, but I don't think I can get there with floods in E Texas and Louisiana.  MS has been there.  Hang in there, Texas.

No shit. I'm watching the second game of their twinbill. Cleveland leads 10-0 in the bottom of the ninth, after winning the opener 3-2.

I desperately want them to match up against anybody else in the ALDS and go to 7 games.

Except that the ALDS is best of 5.  But I like where your head is at.
