Well, that was disappointing.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

It's interesting that not all of the umpires have apparently signed on to this Angel Hernandez protest thing. If you're the union, you'd better be pretty damn sure that you're going to get 100% participation in such a thing, or you're going to wind up looking worse than if you had done nothing.

The strike zones seem to get tighter and tighter.

Did Kinsler not get fined?

Yes, he was fined but that was it. The umpires wanted a suspension.

That seemed like a ball Fisher could have caught...he takes bad routes and pulls up/let's balls drop instead of being aggressive.

Boog Powell plays CF for the A's? Isn't he like 85 years old? Also, he's a first baseman. I don't think he's got the wheels for CF.
He breezed him, one more time!

Nice performance by McHugh tonight. That curveball/slider was wicked!

Yeah, six hits, but one was off the fists and blooped into center, and two were weak ground balls through a shift hole. He did well, but too many 3-ball counts.

Anyone know why they pulled him?  Was he laboring?  I'm not watching the game live...
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

Probably pulled just due to pitch count. He was at about 90.

Actually threw 92 pitches and 3 of the next 4 batters are lefties, so the move was made to Liriano. He got through the 7th ok thanks to a double play. We need some insurance. I'm sure Giles is unavailable tonight.

Nice job by Musgrove in the 8th. Walk, cleaned up with a double play, and then several nice sliders to strike out Semien.

Shout-out to my wife. After all of the double-plays tonight she started telling me about being at an Astros game when she was a girl where they turned some ridiculous record-setting number of double-plays. We looked things up, and sure enough, on May 4, 1969, against the Giants, they turned 7 double-plays in 9 innings, with the immortal Curt Blefary involved in all of them.

We also discovered that the Astros hit two grand slams in the same inning (the 9th inning, no less) against the Mets on July 30, 1969.

And he's shrunk four inches and dropped 80 lbs. Otherwise he's the spitting-image. The original Boog had arms like tree trunks.

I remember both of those "events'.  But I remember the two grand slam games differently. I thought that was against the Cubs in Wrigley. Who hit the slams? Was it Wynn and Menke?

Yes, Menke and Wynn, at Shea against the immortal '69 Mets.
