addiction
« on: August 17, 2017, 08:35:43 am »
My name is Jim Raup, and I am an Astroholic. The first thing I do each morning, after walking Bowie and getting coffee, is check the Trade Deadline thread to see if Detroit has come to its senses. Then I read the entire GZ if I was not on it the night before. Finally, I read the stories and watch the highlights on At Bat. Dan died, Jerry is a Rangers fan, and Mark's schedule often is too busy so I have no one here with whom I can talk baseball to the extent I want. I get some of what is missing from my life filled in here, and for your part of that, I thank you. There is no cure for my addiction, and I do not want one.

I'm glad you walk Bowie first. He's a good dog.

At least you have your priorities right.  :)

I don't think I am in as deep to the addiction as you, but I'm pretty far gone also.

I was thinking about AA meetings yesterday.  The Red Lion Pub has $2 Taco Tuesday and I thought it would be a great place for an AA meeting.  Especially since I think the tacos are good.

I think I may be in denial. I skip "at bat" but study every Astro affiliate milb box score. And all before breakfast or walking the dog.

Am I addicted?

Checking MiL box scores of affiliate teams is most definitely a sign of being in pretty deep.

I slept in my Altuve jersey T shirt last night because I did it the night before and the Astros won 2 in a row.

I check OWA multiple times a day (sometimes multiple times an hour).

My son gives me all the Astros cards he gets from his Topps collection.

I still have my orange AND blue plastic Astros batting helmets from my childhood.

I'm addicted too.  And I don't want to quit.

I'm so addicted I flew to Houston to see my family and I'm making them go to at least 1 game while I'm here.  Saturday for sure...maybe Sunday.

Is he the one who faded out after moving to Korea? Or maybe I'm getting him confused with the guy who already lived in Korea.

Let's rip off about 10 wins in a row, get healthy, and tear the rest of MLB a new asshole

Trum did the inevitable SF -> Oakland -> somewhere else migration. If I recall correctly he ended up in Sebastopol.

I never had any idea he annoyed Biz so much but needless to say one's heart grows ever fonder.

I think the guy who left for Korea was named Matt. And Matt, if you're reading, I don't know, might be a good time to think about coming back.

Is he the one who faded out after moving to Korea? Or maybe I'm getting him confused with the guy who already lived in Korea.

No one wants HD?

I do!  I miss the days were criticism was couched in terms of schlong-gorvelling ankle-grabbing lackey neckism.

I've hung out with Joey a few times. Great guy and I always enjoyed his posts, especially the feud with Biz which I thought was good-natured and entertaining on both sides.

The funniest thing about Ray was that he considered himself just an old-school, country hardball kind of guy.  Except the part about the infield fly rule...and not understanding why you'd need a cutoff man...

Still think the only HA meeting I've been to (outside of opening days) was during the World Series at Roeder's.

I honestly don't remember what this was in reference to, but I will assume I was so damn right.   My only memory of Durango, CO was some cunt in a Pizza Hut parking lot yelling at me and my dad because we had Texas license plates.  We walk in to get a table and guess who is putting on an apron and a name tag?  That's right, my dad.   Haven't spoken to him since that night.

Anyway, good luck everyone.  See you in 12-15 years.

I was 12.  We were camping and didn't feel like cleaning up a fire cooked meal, so we went to the Pizza Hut on the edge of town.  As you're aware, it was the last time I've been inside a Pizza Hut.
