"Players' Weekend" jerseys
« on: August 09, 2017, 02:57:36 pm »
On a lighter note, the Astros "Players' Weekend" jerseys have been revealed.

Apparently the last weekend of August will be the inaugural Players' Weekend.  One of the supposed highlights is that the players' will get to wear XFL style jersey's with whatever name they want.

Obviously, McCann doesn't give a fuck about this millennial hippy shit. But Marisnick is "Big Fudge," Will Harris is "Bill" and Correa is the delightfully cringe-inducing ON-BRAND(TM) "Showrrea."

Neither do Springer or Kuechel.

Where the hell is "Captain Caveman."  It would have made this crap more palatable.

It's funny to me that Springer, by all accounts the most beloved character in the clubhouse, has no nickname.  Which leads me to the only logical conclusion: he does have a nickname, but it's something so offensive, MLB can't print it.

Also, sorta sad that Reddick didn't get "RIC FLAIR".

I'm watching the Mariners pound the A's.  Kyle Seager is going to be "Corey's Brother".

I think the players chose their names.

Correa is the delightfully cringe-inducing ON-BRAND(TM) "Showrrea."

If indeed a player chose his own nickname, "100 MILES GILES" is also pretty cringe-worthy, especially considering it's not even his best pitch.

I'm still disappointed that Gattis and McCann didn't switch names.

Completely aside from the why, how does one get one's hair to do that?

Shave the sides and back, leave the top long (probably about 18-36 weeks without a cutting it), and then style with a matte-finish wax.  Combine that wax with sweat and hats/batting helmets...

Per Footer, Carl Edwards Jr. chose "Carl's Jr" which is pretty nice.

Trevor Bauer going with "Bauer Outage" is the worst self-own I've seen.

I'm a little out of touch I guess.  No one nicknamed Tater or Bugger?

According to an article in today's New York Times, this is a project driven by the players' union and the MLB apparel licensee.

Well, they share a history of wasting Hall of Famers' careers.
