RIP Anthony Young.

Native Houstonian, Houston Cougar, and former Astro Anthony Young passed away yesterday from brain cancer. Young is best remembered for his record losing  streak with the Mets where he lost an astounding 27 straight decisions. Interestingly, during the streak, Young filled in at closer, and was 12 for 12 in save opportunities, including a 23.2-inning scoreless streak, but unable to vulture a win during that period.

Young was only 51.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Cancer is a bitch in general.  Brain cancer took my grandfather at 61, and I mentioned in the GZ the other night I was attending the funeral of a friend who died of breast cancer at 48 after fighting the good fight for 7 years.  Young was only diagnosed in January.  I don't know if that's good or bad.

We just lost our #1 litigator who also was a great guy to brain cancer.

I lost my wife of 17 years to ALS in 2012. At least there is a possibility, if remote, of a of getting rid of cancer.
