Santiago has drawn an arrow from the middle of the pitching rubber to home plate.

Correa is hitting great recently but he did get off to a slow start and has made too many mistakes fielding and running the bases.

Top 3:
Jake pops to first on a 3-2
Springer looping liner single into center
Altuve - hit and run on 2-1 - pokes it perfectly through the vacated 2b hole, 1st and 3rd results
Correa goes from 3-0 to 3-2, then hammers a single past the diving SS. Springer scores, 3-0.
Gattis smashes the next one down the RF line, favorable hop to the RF off the wall, Altuve scores, Correa to 3b, 4-0
Marwin flies to shallow RF line, Correa tags and is gunned down at the plate.

Mid 3, 4-0 Astros.

Just throw him in the pile with all the 22 year old shortstops with a 920 OPS.

And so I shall.

Seriously, I'm so glad Correa is on this team and look forward to him having a great career. He is manning a tough position, he's allowed to make a few errors. However, he can do a better job running the bases.

Bregman all of a sudden has 6 homers. Most impressively, he's still driven the ball to all fields during this recent uptick in performance.

If Bregman plays up to his potential, this lineup could really get ridiculous (although definitely risk that others come back to earth a bit as well).

It didn't trigger an 11 run inning, so "garbage time" it is.

How could someone complain?  He's seeing/hitting the ball well lately.

Santiago's reaction was funny.  He was out there smiling in disbelief aver the moonshot.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

I was about to type Reddick, but this season is only slightly above his career averages for BA, OBP, OPS and I expect that he has and will continue to benefit by primarily batting in front of Altuve and Correa.

If I'm running the numbers correctly, the Twins' staff ERA was 4.14 coming into the series. Through 7 innings today, it's 4.58.

So, with the last two games and thru seven innings today, seven Twins relievers (two of which have pitched twice) have combined for 180 pitches and 22 earned runs in seven innings.  Still two innings left in this one.

Per wikipedia: Guduan is a Dutch yellow cheese made from cow's milk. It is named after the city of Guduan in the Netherlands. One of the most popular cheeses worldwide, the name is used today as a general term for a variety of similar cheese produced in the traditional Dutch manner, as well as the Dutch original.

The team in second place swept the astros at home about a week ago.

So, with the last two games and thru seven innings today, seven Twins relievers (two of which have pitched twice) have combined for 180 pitches and 22 earned runs in seven innings.  Still two innings left in this one.

A guy covering the Twins tweeted that when the series started Monday, the Twins' bullpen ERA was 18th in the majors. Now it's dead last. And he tweeted that at the end of the 7th inning, so it's worse now.

Phil Miller
@MillerStrib
With six runs this inning, Twins' bullpen has managed to bottom out: Collective 5.18 ERA is now worst in majors. They ranked 18th on Monday.

Not familiar w Guduan.  Numbers from AAA not impressive.

Lefty Reymin Guduan gets his first call to the bigs. Numbers overall for the season are rough, but in May has been better: 1.69 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 16 IP. Against lefties for the first two months: 1.00 WHIP and .237 BAA  (10 IP).

I think the previous record was against the Twins last year.

So, with the last two games and thru seven innings today, seven Twins relievers (two of which have pitched twice) have combined for 180 pitches and 22 earned runs in seven innings.  Still two innings left in this one.

Update (if the game doesn't go to extra innings):

In the three game series, seven Twins relievers (three of which pitched twice) and a position player combined for 222 pitches and 27 earned runs in nine innings.

Rangers can suck our collective pecorino.
They've got to be shitting bricks
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

Rangers can suck our collective pecorino.

If the Astros can manage to win this weekend's series in the greater DFW area, the Rangers fans may have an emmental breakdown.

Ranger fan breakdown is a cottage industry.

It's rare that you have a 17-6 baseball game in the middle of the 9th inning, and the eventual winning pitcher hadn't participated in the game yet.

I would add "No bitching about called strikes".

I just saw Roberto Duran in his underwear. He was standing in his driveway arguing with someone. Try as I might I just can't work cheese into this.

Flattest knucklers you've ever seen.

Nobody spins the knuckler quite like that guy...
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I bet his wife hates it when he goes outside in his underwear.

It might have been his wife he was arguing with. Whatever the case, around here he can do just about anything he wants.

Please, say no mas.

He was being interviewed live on CNN Español a year ago or so. The interviewer at some  point said, Say, you know,it's always been a dream of mine to spar with you. What do you say? Duran looks at him for a second and says Ok, show me what you've got, while sort of assuming a fighting position. The CNN guy puts up his fists to confront Duran and Duran takes one look at him and scoffs in his best Panamanian slang, Fuck, you suck!

My Uber driver just told me that back in '89 or '90 or so his pet lion got loose and went wandering around the neighborhood eating out of trash cans. Duran, I'm talking about. If Duran had a pet lion who knows what sort of pets Noriega might have had.

Is HH around? Would like to hear more about how overrated Correa is.

Fuck you.

Did you hear that?

I tried, I really did, to work "Gorgonzola" into my response, but just couldn't make it work.

I know we did a lot with this theme today, and from a distance it must look pretty easy. But I warn you, things aren't always as simple as they paneer.

By the way, if the story of Duran's pet lion strikes you as implausible, well, me too. I just can't see a Panamanian making use of a trash can.
