So, I finally got a chance to post. We left when they put the tarps in in the 8th since we had a 4.5 hour drive home. Did get a chance to listen to a very capable radio crew on the Twins network (no really, they are very good) describe the train wreck as it happened from their perspective. More later after we get home.
Okay, so now safely ensconced in my home office, I had a great time at the ballpark. I scored some Delta Sky Miles Club 360 tickets on StubHub for this game and was very pleased with the seats and the people around me. Had great banter with the usher for that area and in the club itself. As we were leaving (and it was 8-6 at the time) he said "can't you let us have this one?" Strangest one was a guy came up and said he used to be the Astros team doctor. Methinks he was prone to telling stories as his daughter and her husband were with him and she was rolling her eyes a bit. Still, I had a very enjoyable chat with the fellow.
The ballpark there is VERY easy to get to on the Minneapolis SkyWalk. We stayed at the downtown Hampton Inn for one night prior to the game and that was perfect. Just a 5 minute walk to the ballpark all above the street. The weather one the day was just plain weird. Most of the first 6 innings was peppered with sprinkles every once in awhile. That deluge that happened in the Astros half of the 7th just popped up out of nowhere. Then I saw the rain coming for the 8th inning and we were inside for that one. Figured it would be too long to wait around for it so we took off and found the game on the radio. Thankfully it finished before we got out of radio range (my co-pilot wasn't very helpful in finding radio stations).
We are about 4 hours +/- from Chicago, St. Louis, and Minneapolis. KC is about 6 hours. So, tough to get to and from games in a timely manner.
However, we do have a Low A team from the Twins in town and they will be taking on the River Bandits for a three game set starting tomorrow night. Hope to catch a few of those games.
All in all, a very enjoyable day at the ballpark. I can recommend watching a game there to anyone.
