Raise your hand if you expected the Twins' first two starting pitchers to have sub-2 ERAs.

So far Peacock is dealing!   Not to sure about the strike zone today.  Hard to judge from up here behind home plate

Springer is not happy with the strike zone.  He has been rung up twice on what looked from here to be well inside pitches

The astros players seem to think the HPU's interpretation of the zone is fairly liberal.

Both pitchers are living in that borderline strike area. Many many pitches could go either way

Pitchers duel in progress.  Through 3 , only Altuve has a hit and that was a double

Yep, if the zone stays consistent we won't be seeing many runs.  Both pitchers are freaking dealing so far.

Bit of little league baseball now as beltran singles then gets to 3rd on a throwing error then scores on a wild pitch.
Oh correa had already hit a monster homer.

2-0 Astros

Coming into this game Santana had only allowed 30 hits in 70 IP.  Damn.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Two quick long fly outs to start the 6th

Altuve hit a warning track shot that was caught right in front of the 411 sign, the deepest part of the park.

Marwin up with the bases loaded down 7-2.

He had to go to/stay with his sixth best option because the rest of the bullpen has been worked so hard.
"Keuchel, McCullers and pray for a hurricane" is already starting to catch up to them. I hope they can make it another two months to the deadline without the bullpen blowing up on them.

He said horseshit about 5 times as he went off the field while the tarp was coming out.

I am fucking livid. Why didn't they roll out the tarp earlier when it was a deluge with the bases loaded?

I'd probably get run if I was AJ, because I wouldn't take any answer other than "we fucked that up."

No shit. It was raining so hard Marwin couldn't hold on to his bat.

For those not watching the telecast, this 8th was the first 11 run inning for the Astros since 1994, and, frankly, im surprised it occurred that recently.

Yep, if the zone stays consistent we won't be seeing many runs.  Both pitchers are freaking dealing so far.

Score makes me think it wasn't consistent.

Yeah, I missed the game...I take it not many runs were scored?
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

So, I finally got a chance to post.  We left when they put the tarps in in the 8th since we had a 4.5 hour drive home.  Did get a chance to listen to a very capable radio crew on the Twins network (no really, they are very good) describe the train wreck as it happened from their perspective.  More later after we get home.

Okay, so now safely ensconced in my home office, I had a great time at the ballpark.   I scored some Delta Sky Miles Club 360 tickets on StubHub for this game and was very pleased with the seats and the people around me.   Had great banter with the usher for that area and in the club itself.  As we were leaving (and it was 8-6 at the time) he said "can't you let us have this one?"   Strangest one was a guy came up and said he used to be the Astros team doctor.   Methinks he was prone to telling stories as his daughter and her husband were with him and she was rolling her eyes a bit.  Still, I had a very enjoyable chat with the fellow.

The ballpark there is VERY easy to get to on the Minneapolis SkyWalk.   We stayed at the downtown Hampton Inn for one night prior to the game and that was perfect.   Just a 5 minute walk to the ballpark all above the street.    The weather one the day was just plain weird.   Most of the first 6 innings was peppered with sprinkles every once in awhile.   That deluge that happened in the Astros half of the 7th just popped up out of nowhere.   Then I saw the rain coming for the 8th inning and we were inside for that one.    Figured it would be too long to wait around for it so we took off and found the game on the radio.  Thankfully it finished before we got out of radio range (my co-pilot wasn't very helpful in finding radio stations).

We are about 4 hours +/- from Chicago, St. Louis, and Minneapolis.  KC is about 6 hours.   So, tough to get to and from games in a timely manner.
However, we do have a Low A team from the Twins in town and they will be taking on the River Bandits for a three game set starting tomorrow night.   Hope to catch a few of those games.

All in all, a very enjoyable day at the ballpark.   I can recommend watching a game there to anyone.

Blum described the weather as having experienced all four seasons during  the game. I need to put that stop on my list. Anything other must-see stops in town?

Score makes me think it wasn't consistent.

My prognosticatory abilities are strong.  Would you like to know which horse *won't* win the Belmont?

You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Actually, he described it going twice around.

It's one thing to watch that game and think it's the kind of random stuff that happens sometimes in baseball. It's different to watch that game and think that's what this team does.

Well, I don't really know Minneapolis all that well.  Have only been there for sporting events, mostly my kid's swim meets at U of Minnesota.   I have always enjoyed the Cathedral of Materialism if only for the people watching.

We have friends who live north of the Twin Cities and so have visited them a few times but nothing special to recommend in that...

Exactly. Yesterday is what this team does.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
