Dear Bullpen,

Be ready.

Are you saying they'll need to put out Fiers?

T1:

Springer doubles down the LF line
Reddick flies out F8 on the first pitch
Altuve strikes out swinging on a foul tip
Correa...works the count full...strikes out swinging

Leadoff double wasted...no score

For a reasonably small guy, Bregman is slow as shit.

B2:

Morrison homers to RCF
Norris lines to LCF, diving catch by Springer!

Strom out to tell Fiers to quit throwing puss

Peterson with a check swing chopper to 3B...called out, but clearly beat the throw by a full step...it will be overturned...yep, overturned.  Wasn't particularly close.
Beckham hits a screaming line drive, but right at Bregman
Peterson moves to 2B on a wild pitch
Dickerson...who wears hideously ugly white shoes...grounds out 3-1

2-1 Rays

McCann owns Cobb.

To my mind, this is one of most interesting phenomena in sports. It's not like it's a great player clubbing a shitty player. McCann's good, Cobb's good, Cobb gets plenty of other guys out. But this matchup is very one-sided. And there are plenty of other examples of mismatches like this.

Thanks, I never had any kids but about thirty years ago, thinking I would someday have kids, I started a savings account specifically to pay for college for any future progeny. I put it in a fund just kept contributing to it. Turned out to be one of the best things I ever did for myself.

Ty is up at his hippie fest on the Suwannee River this weekend.  He was lamenting missing this series.

Reddick strikes out swinging
Altuve singles to RCF against the shift
Altuve immediately picked off of 1B before the first pitch

3-3 still

KIermaier grounds to 1B, under Gurriel's glove, then under Altuve's glove.  Scored a hit, but damn two shots at that muther and nothin'
Longoria...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...chops to SS, out 6-3, Kiermaier, moving on the pitch, to 2B
Miller flies out F8

So unless the Astros put up a crooked number next half inning, that should be all for Fiers.

T7:

McCann lines a single past the first baseman
Gurriel doubles over the LFers head, McCann chugs into 3B and barely makes it
Aoki walks to load the bases

That's all for Cobb, Jumbo Diaz in...

Springer grounds to 3B...Longoria bobbles it and has to take the out at 3B, but McCann scores, Aoki to 2B

Marisnick in to pinch run for Aoki

Reddick pops out F5
Altuve taps back to the box

But the Astros take a 4-3 lead at the stretch

Years ago I had a random email exchange with this crazy woman (not nutsie) who told me I write like him. I don't, at all. I mean, I'm delighted you think so, but I couldn't claim anything of the sort.

Only now that you mention it does it dawn on me that my liberal injection of regional profanity might actually be what she meant.

It was the sort of sophisticated, high-brow humor I'm known for.  Have I told you the joke about the pig, the monkey, the nun, and the banana peel?

If it's the one that involves castor oil, then, yes, of course. Like nine times.

I love Kiermaier, but it wouldn't break my heart to learn that he wouldn't play in the remainder of this series.

I love the kind of outfield he plays. Did they say what happened?

Ha, ha, that was Hinch telling Altuve that he's been picked off twice tonight, and that play only makes up for one of them.

I don't think so. They showed him going into first on his hit, and it looked a little like he might be pulling up. And then he wound up going to third, but they didn't show any video of that. But I'm guessing he's got a twinge in his hammy.

Left the game due to illness.

He needs to learn that if he wants to drive in McCann he'll have to hit the ball out of the park.

Fuckwad in for the Rays...

McCann lays down a bunt against the shift, Longoria can't pick it up...bunt single
Gurriel doubles off the top of the LF wall, McCann chugs into 3B
Marisnick...infield in...strikes out swinging
Springer...infield still in...walks
Reddick flies out F8 at the wall in dead center field...score it a sac fly, as McCann scores, Gurriel to 3B
Wild pitch!!  Gurriel scores, Springer to 2B
Altuve grounds out 6-3

to the bottom of the 9th...Astros up 6-3

Even though Altuve made an out, he may have eliminated Farqhuar from the Sat/Sun games.

That's a good win...Fiers kept the damage to a minimum, took advantage of extra outs, situational hitting and baserunning, and superb bullpen

Exactly. This is how teams that are a little bit better than others wind up with records that are substantially better than others.
