Luke?  Rey?   Plural?

Luke, before he trains Rey.
Then Rey, after Luke dies.

But always Lando.  Or Lobot.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

These titles are very un-Lucas. They're short, simple, and they clearly reference familiar aspects of the franchise. Disney seems to understand that things like "clones" and "sith" don't sell well to casual viewers. "Force" and "Jedi" are understood in the context of Star Wars to about 98% of the world's population.

Episode IX: Yeah, that last title was an alternate fact

The words "Star Wars" are in red, not the classic mustardy yellow.  Marketing or meaningful change?

It's Luke because as far as Rey is concerned he's the most recent one.

An interesting take:  the Jedi need to be unavailable or extinct to be interesting.  The movies where they were abundant and powerful...sucked balls.

Of course with these movies Lucas didn't care about anyone's opinion other than his own as he made them for himself and not his audience.

IMO, meaningful.  Red is for the bad guys and it's surrounding the Last Jedi.

Some interesting speculation here on both the meaning of "The Last Jedi" and the red lettering:

Agreed. It's a very deliberate choice. If nothing else, it seems to indicate that VIII will be as dark as we've expected.

It's the second act - just as was Empire - so it makes sense that it's dark.  That's the standard arc for a three act play.

It seems that Luke may be the "Last Jedi".  Or maybe Vader...?
