Jesus Christ, McHugh. You couldn't toss it more down main street if it was BP.

The only reason to keep McHugh in this game would be for morbid curiosity.

The only thing worse than watching McHugh pitch is listening to Ashby describe McHugh pitching.

And to figure out if he's fighting for a rotation spit next year or written off completely.

McHugh ties Jose Lima, who was the last #Astros pitcher to allow 4 HR in 1 inning. April 27, 2000 against the Cubs. Also in the 1st inning.

White doubles in Gattis, Teo singles in White. 5-3, and maybe they can still make this a game.

It was. The game that cemented "ten-run field" in the national consciousness, and in Lima's head.

3/5 of the rotation has been a disappointment, Keuchel, McHugh, and Fiers. 1/5 is damaged.  Hard to win with that.

I'm fine going to next season with LMJ, Keuchel, Musgrove, and a contest for the other two spots.

It tipped off the top of the glove and looked like it hit him right on the collarbone.

Just to reiterate, my favorite game is a 1-0 pitchers' duel. But since the Astros don't find themselves in too terribly many of those lately I would prefer the team to go ahead and score some runs for the hell of it if they're going to be allowing the other guys double digits as often as not.

Hernandez needs a swift kick in the ass. If you're gonna lollygag a run in, the least you can do is hit the fucking cutoff man.

Where's Marisnick?

Still recovering from the groin strain. Only able to play every other day, according to Hinch.

I don't understand why Springer and Teo aren't flipped.

If that's an indication of Teo's arm, he shouldn't be in RF.

He shouldn't be in CF either, so I'd rather put him where he gets fewer chances.

At the very least. I might even entertain Marwin in right.

Now that they moved the extra point back 7-7 is not a score you can automatically assume you'll see.

I'm thinking Bagwell at 3rd base.

I take it they are discussing game times, how does a shift affect the length of the game?

It's a black hole thing.  By diving into a black hole on the shift, the fielder can fall into a time wormhole and end up not showing up again for a 10-20 minute period.  It's a problem.

Well, a shift creates more outs, so eliminating it creates more offense, which makes the games... Shorter?!?!

That was my initial thought but then thought I must be missing something.  I am on the radio feed so I thought Ashby must have been explaining the theory and hence HH's comment.

I assumed your comment was a joke at my expense.  If you're serious...the complaint is that shifting delays pitching to the next hitter.

So after Springer runs into the third out of the 5th, Bregman leads off the 6th with a single followed by a HR by Altuve.

It is pretty sweet.  Sometimes the audio and video seem a little disconnected and perhaps a little more lag (this may be my imagination) but I prefer to listen to the radio, even on days Ashby is not there.

Fiers should be pitching for his spot in the rotation tonight. Much rather see Devenski in his spot. Obviously can't tonight with him working last night though.

Devenski's good where he is. He struggles the third time through the lineup.
Goin' for a bus ride.
