Cool, looking forward to it.

I wonder if the delay was due to him being a trade chip for a trade that is no longer a possibility.

Or maybe Valbuena to 1st with Margo day to day and Bregman at 3rd.

Bregman will either play 3B, LF or DH tomorrow. Depends in part on the status of Marwin Gonzalez's sprained left ankle.

Maybe, although he didn't even play LF yesterday, he played 3B. Haven't seen a lineup for tonight's Fresno game yet.

Spoiler Alert......Bregman won't be in the lineup.

Welcome to the show, kid. You're playing the Yankees.

Apparently Bregman has a bizarre lifelong hatred of the Yankees. They are his mom's favorite team so he and his dad always rooted against them to mess with her.

You're right, he's not. But I don't see why he couldn't have been. They were wanting him to get more experience at other positions. It's not like they're trading him to another team, where of course he wouldn't play another game with Fresno. This was almost like a rehab assignment. Get x number of ABs/time in the field, and then you'll be up in the majors.

And yes, I realize they might also want to make his plane ride stress-free instead of rushing him out on a red-eye or early morning flight.

That seems odd.  2 extra games in left was enough to learn a new position?

Not necessarily "learning" it. I assume he just needed to demonstrate that he can already play LF well enough that he can be trusted there occasionally this season.

Must have got some action in left Saturday.  Thursday and Friday I think he saw 2 balls hit to left.  Regardless, he's up.  Should be a challenge for Hinch to distribute ABs.  A good problem to have as long as no one complains.

It seems to me that the Bergman anticipation is greater even than that for Correa? Anyway, isn't it fun to have these guys coming up.
I just came from browsing through the Baseball America at the newsstand and they have their mid-season Top 50 prospects and there were 5 Astros.
10% of the games' best prospects and I remember clearly decades in which they may have had one at a time on such a list.
Besides Bregman they listed Martes, Tucker, Paulino and one I can't recall.

I think part of the amplified hype is that the playoffs are more in view right now than they were when Correa was called up.  If (big if) Bregman is the piece that gets us over the hump into the AL West lead, the hype will be justified.

It's peak fandom right now.  Young core, team is in a playoff chase, and the number 1 prospect just got called up.  Obviously a World Series ring would be the "peak", but in terms of experience and the process...it doesn't get better than this.

I think the bregman hype is in large part because of instant success that Correa had last season

Yes - this is going to be very anti-climactic if he debuts like our more recent rookie call-ups.

It seems strange that Bregman is 6 months older than Correa.  Can't wait for tonight.

Correa is a special talent. It's easy to expect too much out of him already.

I have to say this is about as excited as I've been in quite awhile for an Astro team. Bregman now and Gurriel in a month or so... Good times!

I'm doubled disappointed, I was totally expecting Gomez to pick him up if he faltered. I had this scenario in my head where one of them was to it to be the difference maker and it didn't matter what anyone else did. Oh well...

Valbuena has been put on the DL. Yesterday, they were saying a spot would be created for White by Fister going on paternity leave, but apparently Luis V's hammy is worse than they thought.

So it looks like Bregman will be playing 3B for the next couple weeks at least.
