Altuve is highly skilled at all phases of the game except for keeping his belt buckled and running at the same time.

Never have I been so glad for a west coast game to start. The next two weeks of "news coverage" will be excruciating.

Fiers with a walk, a wild pitch, and 3 Ks, so he's following McHugh's game plan from yesterday.

Correa needs to sit for a couple of games.

Everybody in the league knows that he's going to watch the first pitch, so they just throw him meatballs, and he starts every AB 0-1. It's infuriating.

Tough one for Springer there...

I wonder how long it'll take for me to be "deprogrammed" on my initial reactions off the bat. I immediately was thinking single with runners at first and second nobody out. Then the shift....

The broadcast really, really needs to add a graphic that is similar to the baserunner graphic but shows defensive alignment. I'm surprised the espns and foxes of the world haven't instituted it

I don't know.  The screen is getting pretty junked up as it is. Thank goodness for big screens these days.

I think it could be pretty simple. Lower the box with the on base graphic and add four small red dots around the diamond.

Or just alternate it with the score in the top left periodically. It seems like there is plenty of real estate to work with.

there have been several times this year that Fiers could not get through five with a lead. It is amazing he has six wins somehow.Even though his ERA is very respectable.

I left the room during the pitching change... Any chance for a very quick summary on Fiers? I assume he was throwing shit? Or was it worse?

Fiers livid with Hinch in the dugout. Somebody for a second was restraining him.

Fuck that. Adios.

Brady and Hoyt could be solid replacements.  They'll probably want to move Fiers to the pen before deciding to release him...though if he just injured himself, problem solved

Rodgers would be the guy called up if they wanted a starter. Hoyt if they wanted to move Feldman back to the rotation (or Devinski).

Gomez was starting something in the dugout with Fiers between innings. Says A's commentator: "My guess is, if you're in an Astros uniform, you listen to Altuve. You may not listen to Carlos Gomez."

Color guy notes that they were teammates in Milwaukee.

I'm watching the Oakland broadcast. I'm not kidding about the blood. Also, Gomez got into it with Fiers. One of the Oakland guys pointed out that Carlos is the farthest away on the field from the dugout and speculated that he must have 'good ears.'

 Love,

People that watch baseball.

Whenever he does this the only word I can muster up is "smarmy". I wonder if ashby ever picked up a semi fast wild pitch or an awkward bunt with his bare hand instead of using his glove? It's a "feel" thing and you'd think a player gets that.

Rodgers scratched from his start tonight at Round Rock. They called it an injury but provided no details.

Unless the Cardinals missed the "PRECOG" file of Grond Control during the hack I doubt there's much to read in to this. Unless... This was Fiers' last chance and that was communicated to him... Hence the blowup. Who knows? This team worrying about drama at the backass end of the rotation is the last thing it needs.

I don't understand how Gomez ever makes contact with how hard he pulls off of every pitch.

Enjoy that L Fiers. It might be your last decision as a starter.

Managerial confrontations drive me nuts when the player is obviously performing like shit. We all know people in our various professional lives that blame first and take responsibility second (or never). Just because they have a fucking baseball card doesn't excuse shitty behavior. Passion is one thing.. Destroy a cooler with a baseball bat? Fine. Punch a wall and end your season? Way to go dumbass! Confront a manager after you shit the bed? Fuck you, here's a bus ticket.

Throwing pus is the way to beat these guys. I'm sure that's been pretty well scouted by now.
There seem to be problems across the organization in preparing hitters to deal with off speed stuff. It's getting old watching supposed hot prospects come up and, when seeing major league breaking balls, react like Stone Age savages facing repeating rifles (see also; Reed, AJ).

It just reminds us what a talent Correa is, being the one guy who broke that pattern.

I just saw what this was all about. Either the Trump campaign hired Jayson Blair as their head speechwriter or this really is nothing more than a giant branding exercise and he has no intention of winning whatsoever and will continue to sabotage his own campaign little by little until it implodes completely.

My main issue in trying to gauge this is that I don't have a very good handle on how much of his act is act versus true crazy.
