Lots of pitches for only 1 runner - I think he ended up at 24?

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Yes, 24.

Not to worry, though, McHugh has started his traditional first-inning troubles.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Cue the double play ball from Trout. Nicely done.

McHugh wasn't great but got out of the inning with less than a dozen.

Boone and the play by play guy spent the inning bantering about USC and Stanford, seemingly from the perspective of rival alums. Apparently, it was planned programming on the part of the cutting edge ESPN producers since they had the clip ready to fire. Cross marketing synergies!

I do like seeing that the Indians have an actual Jobu shrine.

Marte laces one off the LF wall, Rasmus holds him to a single because he didn't bust it out of the box.

T3 - Springer bounces one off the pitcher's finger and beats the 2b's throw. We'll see if it affects Shoemaker.

Boone certainly didn't major in physics suggesting that shoemakers hand "catapulted" the springer line drive.

Gomez with the rare combo of swinging at a pitch that might have hit him, going to a knee, and letting the pitch hit the ump. All out effort there.

They aren't the best but I think they are better than Ashby.  I don't even know who all is in the booth besides Aaron Boone, but they do seem to have a clue how to play baseball.

Altuve with bases loaded (Castro 2B, Springer BB, Valbuena 1B) and none out in T9. FB to Calhoun, not deep enough to score Castro.

Correa follows with another FB to right, this one is deep enough to score Castro on sac fly. 3-2 stros.

Rasmus walks, bases again full.

Reed up (0-4 tonight, 2 whiffs).

WP scores Springer. 4-2 Astros.

Reed whiffs again (5th in 9 ABs since callup).

On to B9.

Will Harris on.

Giovotella whiffs but reaches 1B on what's ruled a wild pitch (got thru the 5 hole of Castro).

Marte singles to vacated right side. Man on 1st and 2nd, none out.

Nava LD single to CF. Bases loaded, still none out.

Bandy whiffs. One out.

Harris just setting up for the DP to end it.

Simmons up, hits into 1-2-3 DP. Astros win!!!!!!!!!!
