Springer sends a liner to RF to lead off the game, but Souza makes an incredible diving catch because he hates stat geeks.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Rays love stats but don't know how to use em. We had one around here years ago.

Altuve, feeling the lack of a strong baseball leader in his life, strikes out to end the top of the first.

I might be alone in this, but I love the dead center field camera angle. I see so much more of the movement on pitches than the slightly off center angle.

Which part did you like more, the first swing where his helmet popped off or watching strike 3?

Laryngitis.  While I hope he's OK, it's been a joy not having to listen to him.

I personally like the stumble down towards first on strike two. While not his best it was still pretty damn good.

Rays ground into a shifted DP, which must mean that some sort of space-time continuum breach occurred - shifts never work.

Somehow the Rays made three outs, I guess, because we went to commercial with White ending the top of the 5th, and we return with Castro hitting in the top of the 6th

Why take out Fiers after 85 pitches?  Was he laboring last inning?  (I'm not watching the game...)

Not laboring...third time through the order...top of the order due up...
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Which is ironic - the Rays are one of baseball's biggest believers in not letting starters go through the order the third time, but Archer's 3rd run comes on his 4th time facing Marwin.

Art Howe pointing out how Marwin's steal was big and started shit rolling. Nice insight.

I was surprised they let him pitch to Marwin. Marwin already had two solid knocks and some really good swings against him. I thought for sure they'd turn him around and show him a new wrinkle.

Kevin Cash made a couple of questionable moves that I think cost his team the game.
