Bottom 1:

Incidentally, I read in the SI piece about Texas v. Joey Bats that Tom Grieve said he got "exactly what he deserved".  I was surprised to discover that Grieve apparently has a personality!

Profar grounds out 3 unassisted
Desmond Ks swinging.
Mazara Ks swinging on a big curveball.

I watched McHugh in the first frame. He looked sharp out there. I couldn't see the dropped arm angle that the radio guys were discussing because he had his back to the camera, but it must be helping.

Top 2:

Margo dinks one to third: 5-3
Valbuena rifles the first pitch down the line into the RF corner. Double.
Gomez, exhibiting an unusual calm at the plate, pops out to right field anyway on a 2-2 count.
White follows suit.

Bottom 2:

Odor flies out to Gomez in center.
Valbuena with a nice diving pick of a Ryan Rua smash to third. 5-3.
Fielder flies out to Marisnick in right.

Top 3:

Marisnick skies one to left: F7.
(It is revealed that Springer grounded out to short to start the game.)
Springer takes [strike three] ball four on a full count.
Altuve laces one into right. Springer to second.
Correa walks on a full count. Bases drunk. Time for a conference at the mound.
Gattis with a sac line-drive to right, scoring Springer. Everybody else holds.
Margo serves one into center on an 0-2 count. Altuve scores. Correa to second.
Valbuena grounds out to the right side.

Two hits, two runs, two left.

And I gotta go!

Someone fucking explain to me why Carlos Gomez swings at so many horrible pitches out of the zone, but takes fat pitches in the zone. I don't understand why he's such a free swinger at shit, but so selective with slop.

In his last at bat, Gattis blocked a pitch and it bounced  back in to the left hand batter's box. Odor, instead of, you know, being a normal human being, stood in the box and kind of scuffed his feet at Gattis as he reached to get the ball.

Fuckstick.

Jesus christ. McHugh may as well be pitching underhand. That was so meaty Gomez would've swung a foot under it.

Am I the only one thinking this is the last year for McHugh?  2014 is looking like it's going to be his only really good year.

Unfortunately, the team has several similarly mediocre pitchers, which makes it difficult to project who will be discarded. Fister will likely be one and done.

I think both Musgrove and Feliz will end up with rotation spots next spring.  Add them to Keuchel and McCullers and there's only room for one more arm.

Update for those not listening.  Correa out of game.  Altuve slides to short.  Kemp in at second.  (couldn't put Mawin at short and White at first without sacrificing the DH spot).  Radio guys analyzed the ankle roll as a possible high ankle sprain

I'd like to see Devenski get more starts to see if he could be a fit into the rotation. He is almost an afterthought in the pen and they have Hoyt in AAA.

I like him better in the pen.  I can't see how he would lose a spot there.  Next year I think they lose Gregerson, Neshek, and Feldman.  If Feliz goes to the rotation that's 4 holes in the bullpen to fill.

Gregerson is in the second year of a 3 year contract, I don't think he is going anywhere.   Neshek has a club option next year(6.5 million with a 500k buyout).   Been really solid since after April.  Feldman has really shined in the pen.  I'd guess one of Feldman or Neshek is back

Just DFA him. You're paying his salary anyway. But he has some amazing detrimental effect on this team that extends far past his ineptitude at the plate. I don't understand it at all because he really does seem like gets along with the guys and everything, but when he's around, this team sucks.

Rangers aren't that good that the Astros should be losing to them basically every fucking time.   Astros choke.

Fuck the Rangers, and more importantly, fuck the Astros. Jesus Christ, this team is just brutally un-self aware.  That 9th inning is a microcosm of this season so far.

Just DFA him. You're paying his salary anyway. But he has some amazing detrimental effect on this team that extends far past his ineptitude at the plate. I don't understand it at all because he really does seem like gets along with the guys and everything, but when he's around, this team sucks.

losing and choking are not the same thing. if you think it is, you are a jocksniffer and do not understand the game.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.
