Gomez is due back Tuesday to the big club. It is rumored Ryan Braun is available in a deal. Would you?

Can we rename this thread "non sequitur"?

Leaving aside the bizarre implication that any of us would want Ryan Fucking dickface Braun in an Astros uniform, why the hell is the FO so keen to rush Gomez back? I don't get it. Marisnick is finally starting to heat up, and Gomez hasn't exactly set the world on fire in his few AA games. Why not leave him down there til he's, um, "100% healthy"?

I agree with this sentiment. I would really like to see what Marisnick could do in an extended period. Does 100% healthy for Gomez include mental health?

I think you are assuming I am advocating going after Braun. I am not. Just asking what others think. I would hate to think what Stearn may extract from Luhnow for Braun after the Gomez deal.

I like having Marisnick on the field. I don't know what it is, but he's good for the team, even when he's not hitting well.

I thought that happened last year and Luhnow and company traded for Gomez as a result.

I really like what the team has gotten from Kemp, and either he or Marisnick are going to get replaced by Gomez, which sucks.  I wish theyd leave GOmez down there longer.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

They've gotten pretty much squat from Kemp, far less then they'd have gotten from Tucker.  What's the point of keeping Kemp around?

Kemp actually was the reason they won a game.  That's one more than Gomez

Kemp has done a good job in my estimation. Reliably making contact and often solid. Real nice for his first taste of pro ball.

He's hit .208/.296/.333 with 0 HRs and 0 RBIs. That's not adequate production from your left fielder. Not even close.

That's a false dichotomy. It's not a choice of either Gomez as your center fielder or be happy with those numbers from  your left fielder. There are other possibilities.  I've said many times that I don't like Gomez and I do like having Marisnick out there. That's completely independent of whether or not I think Kemp has been producing.

Gomez has five rbi in 130 plate appearances so he does have that going for him.

Then spare the crap about how productive he's been. He hasn't.

You can't make a case for him based on his numbers but I do see something in him. He brings a speed element and hits line drives. He provided a bit of a spark. He could be a little like Marisnick in that the numbers don't tell the whole story. But of the two, Marisnicks' defense is a way better tool.

I never said productive; I said he's done a good job and has reliably made contact. So, even if his slash line after 28 PAs doesn't stand out, he has done squat.

I can understand seeing something in him you like. What I don't get is "I like what they've gotten from him".  They've gotten squat from him.

"He's ready to be a big leaguer. He's going to be an effective hitter for us,' Hinch said. "He played a pretty good third base while he was here. And he doesn't say a word. He's as quiet as they come.

That's quite a bit different from GoGo.

Gomez is 0-9 with 4 Ks against today's lefty lifetime.  Is there any chance the fans aren't eating an excrement sandwich today?

Slim to none. He sure didn't tear up AA.
